Please continue.

We will. It's not like this thread *can* serve its original purpose if the person we were all hoping to get answers from hasn't logged in since the 25th.

Seeing as that purpose is impossible to advance by staying on topic (i.e. saying nothing), that keeping the thread alive does nothing to prevent that purpose, that people are enjoying themselves, and that you're not our Den Mother or anything, there's no reason not to continue.

I think that whatever system they had in place can only be improved with the Hero system, but buying a license to use the system and buying it outright can be two different things. That being said, I do think that they can use a system like the Marvel game that came out in the 80's with no problem, but it wouldn't be as intuitive and free as HERO.

I would have bought the GURPS hero universe instead myself.
Terms you should know...

Spoiler: Show

Kit Build - A class build that is self sustaining and has mechanical differences than the normal scale. Started in Essentials. Most are call their own terms, though the Base Class should be said in front of their own terms (Like Assassin/Executioner)

Power Points - A mechanic that was wedged into the PHB3 classes (with the exception of the Monk) from the previous editions. This time, they are used to augment At Wills to be Encounters, thus eliminating the need to choose powers past 4th level.

Mage Builds - Kit builds that are schools of magic for the Wizard. A call back to the previous editions powering up of the wizard. (Wizard/Necromancer, for example) Unlike the previous kit builds, Wizards simply lose their Scribe Rituals feature and most likely still can choose powers from any build, unlike the Kit Builds.

Parcel System - A treasure distribution method that keeps adventurers poor while forcing/advising the DM to get wish lists from players. The version 2.0 rolls for treasure instead of making a list, and is incomplete because of the lack of clarity about magic item rarity.

ha ha Show

They will Essentialize the Essentials classes, otherwise known as Essentials2.

The new sub-sub-classes will be:

    * Magician.  A subsubclass of Mage, the magician has two implements, wand and hat, one familiar (rabbit) and series of basic tricks.
    * Crook.  A subsubclass of Thief, the Crook can only use a shiv, which allows him to use his only power... Shank.
    * Angry Vicar, a subsubclass of warpriest, the angry vicar has two attacks -- Shame and Lecture.
    * Hitter.  A subsubclass of Slayer, the Hitter hits things.
    * Gatherer.  A subsubclass of Hunter, it doesn't actually do anything, but pick up the stuff other players might leave behind.

Future Essentials2 classes include the Security Guard (Sentinel2), the Hexknife (Hexblade2), the Webelos (Scout2), the Gallant (Cavalier2) and the Goofus (Knight2).

These will all be detailed in the box set called Heroes of the Futile Marketing.

(Though what they should really release tomorrow is the Essentialized version of the Witchalok!)

If a train leaves Philadelphia en route to Pittsburgh travelling at 80 mph, & another train leaves Pittsburgh en route to Philadelphia travelling at 65 mph, how long will it take until they pass each other?

2 hours, 4 minutes and 8.4 seconds

this is assuming that the 300 miles that mapquest says is an applicitable number and that the trains hold the steady speed and have gotten up to speed before they enter the 300 miles.

80/65=1 hour
160/130=290=2 hours
165.52/134.48=300 =2.069 hours= 2hrs 4min 8.4seconds

granted there is the chance that someone screwed up and put them on the same track. in which case they never pass eachother

if someone has already answered i apologize. i didnt read the whole thing

Nah, I love it. I much prefer it when jerks make themselves known early and obviously. It makes it far simpler to ignore them right off instead of having to come to the realization they're jerks over an extended period.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, I've been REALLY busy since after the show (Free Comic Book Day this Saturday and getting over a nasty bug I caught in Vegas ). Honestly I thought that some of the gaming press at the show would have filled in some answers by now. I'm going to try and get to some of the questions asked here, but maybe not until our store calms down a bit

Rest well and get better. We're just happy to know you plan to get back to us when you can.

One more question when you have the chance. Does the PHB still list each race's age/height/weight in a separate section from the race entries? This has always been a bit of an annoyance with me.

No, I think we saw the Tiefling entry or something and it listed average height and weight ranges right there.

I'm glad they don't have random tables for it anymore, though. At least, not that I've seen.
I found it suprising no one tossed out Wayne Reynold's name while discussing art and artists. The 3E art of Wayne Reynolds truly revolutionized the visuals of D&D. Elmore and his contemporaries defined D&D for many of us, yes; and DiTerlizzi was in a class of his own. Wayne Reynolds, however, truly defined the modern movement of many-layerd, ultra-accessorized, dungeon fashion. The look and appeal of PC's today can be credited, in large part, to him; in my own opinion. Wayne Reynolds brought D&D to a much larger audience. He made PC's uber-sexy in a non-sexist manner, and crazy-lethal in a non-offensive way that appealed to many people outside of the gamer community. I witnessed many copies of Dungeon and Dragon, with Wayne Reynolds covers, lifted from hobby-shop shelves by interested non-gamers; something I never witnessed when those magazines had the Elmore-esque covers.
Here's something else I wanted to ask: Does the PHB still have the lineup of pc races that 3.x did? I really liked the art comparing all the races side by side, and would like this to have stayed in.
