Playing cards, IMO, are the best method of ability score generation. They have every advantage of both without any of the negatives. ARe you kidding, or serious?
And what would be this method?

As for your threat of being an enemy of mine. I really don't care one whit what you do. Especially since you seem to be incapable of understanding something as simple as an example. Such condescension, patronizing and rage – why (you're really batting a 1,000 at the moment)?
I never said "enemy of mine", I was saying as a recent member of these boards and your posting style you are making an enemy of "your" own future on these boards, get it (I know everyone else does)?
All I'm saying is that you seem like you have some interesting things to say; and I wouldn't want them marred by belligerence and passive aggression.

And what would be this method? Hes talking about the 3 Dragon Ante Method I suspect. I like that one too..
Its a Random Point Buy......
Basically, instead of randomly generating stats, the card system Randomly assigns points to each stats. its as if you get 32 points, and you roll to see how many points each stat gets.
So, the stats are totally random, but every character ends up with a total of 32 point buy (or however many points you use). So every array is fair.
Random stats, but no more "One guy with an 18 and 2 17's", and the other guy with nothing over 13.

That's irrelevent. So what if there is a chance that over the course of 1 level that there will be a chance for a 2 hit point difference. Over 5 levels, baring some sort of fluke, there will be a greater difference. The MORE rolls you make, the LESS the average proportional difference would be between the two totals. In other words, the variance decreases as you increase the number of rolls.
So while two first level fighters who roll 1D10 would have an average difference of around 50% in their hitpoints (ignoring constitution modifiers), two 10th level fighters will have an average difference of around 16% and two 20th level fighters an average difference of around 12%.

I am for point buy as well. At least I know where I stand with respect to stat generation. Same with every other aspect of my character creation process.

Think about it: no more "rolling up" a new character - now you'll "buy" one. It's just a tiny bit of wording, maybe, but it just doesn't sound right. Yeah, it's like "Weed Smokers and Stockbrokers". Not quite "Swords and Sorcery" or "Dungeons and Dragons" . . .

See, in my group, we just don't care. If someone rolls 6 18's, then more power to him. Yeah, well, I just write a program to generate random numbers and generate ability scores from there. Then I set it to run for half an hour and take the top score results. "Dude. I swares, they are random."
This didn't work so well in Apple IIe days, when random numbers were based on seeds based on the time (so your program would always loop eventually, and you could never get scores higher than 18 18 18 17 14 10 or something like that). But with advances in technology, you can get WAY better scores.
I favor point buy. Sure, life isn't fair and point buys aren't realistic; people should have unequal stats. But the game already has stuff like 1-1-1 movement and the whole idea of magic is already out the door anyways, so why not just give everyone an equal footing?

1.) If you weren't talking about yourself, that comment should never have been made.
2.) This should have been said instead 1.) I'm sick of talking about me...you talk about me.
2.) Alright, dig it, a bit of humour about yourself, that's more like it.
...So, how about those Dolphins?!
