Shouldn't they be sending cash to playtesters? :D LOL, I think they'd find plenty of people to send them cash to be playtesters!

It might be a great insite to new 4e players to see how to get into the game and understand the rules. Often it's nice to have a player who knows both systems explain how the change goes and give insight. Note likely if an NDA is required...

In all seriousness, I bet an announcement goes up this week. (It better; I keep thinking of more ways to keep this set of testers busy.) Little update.

Note likely if an NDA is required... Depends on how they word it. If I was in WOTC's shoes I'd look to what was turned in from the playtest report and then ask certain people if they wanted to make a public comment, they review said comments for release afterwards. Once again it's a wouldn't it be nice, not a push for anything.

On the subject of playtest packages, David Noonan is leading the effort to get a playtest package ready to send to outsiders. We're also close to figuring out how many playtest groups will receive this package, as well as what information we want to get back from playtesters (and the format in which we want to receive that information). When we've settled all that, we'll be posting something on D&D Insider with the particulars.[/quote] This week maybe.

I am ready and willing to play test. My group consists of 4 guys and 2 girls. All at varying levels of familiarity with the game. We meet once every week, and occasionally twice. Send me my packet! :D

I wonder if WOTC is going to have a hidden message board for the playtesters so they can compare notes. That'd be nice and potentially VERY useful.

If one playtester decides to go rogue, WotC would want to minimize the amount of information they can leak. If there's an online forum for everyone to discuss, then they could leak a lot more info. Plus it's harder for WotC to figure out who leaked it if everyone has the same info. That's just my guess.

I too think and online forum would be a good idea. Seeing how other groups are doing, possibly someone can answer a question if WOTC isn't around.
Example: I can't find this rule. Oh it's on page five of this packet.

I would assume we'd all get the same packets. I mean, you have to have pretty much everything to effectively test, else whatever you are testing won't be used in the correct context.
