Fantasy Wargaming is a nearly-impenetrable RPG by Bruce Galloway published in 1981.

What brought the game to mind is the new Design and Development article describing the four foci (wand, staff, tome, and orb) upon which Wizards will rely.

Fantasy Wargaming has a very interesting magic system which also used foci that granted "casting bonuses" in much the same way the article described. Those foci were a bit more complex since they were based around the astrological chart rather than four arbitrary categories.

It's always fun when something old becomes new again.
