Do you mind (I'm talking to everyone, but especially BHU and Raptor since they seem to be the major contributors.) if I post some specific Dinosuars from a campaign world?

O yah, about the dino mounts. Most predatory dinosuars (megaraptor, dienonycous, T-rex, allosuarous, etc.) work well as mounts. Most plant eating ones aren't very good being that they have pointy spicks and such coming out of their backs, plus its funner to ride a predator in my opinion. Its all about size, the mount should be no more than 1 or 2 sizes larger than the rider,as it is rarley effective (in combat that is).
K, I'll start posting them soon, I'll be gone for a few days, till sundayish, but then I'll do it.

Here is the fluff for the first dino-
Thry'glaxir, The Vengeful
Thry'glaxir was once an ordinary T-rex, living in a southern swamp-jungle. One early morning he came upon a primitive human hunter from one of the local tribes when they were both hunting Stegosuars. The human warrior new that if he did not fight back he would be eaten. So he fought the beast bravely. Although he managed to drive the beast of and took its left eye and gave it a large scar to remember him by, their battle scared away the prey and he desperatly needed food for his clan. He decided to stalk the Dinosuar and lay a trap for it neer its cave. After neerly a full day of walking they came to the foot hills of a mountain range. The human quickly moved ahead of the beast and came to its cave. Their it found two juveniles which he slaughtered and used as bait for his trap. As Thry'glaxir came near his cave he smelled the blood of his slaughtered children and rushed forward. He never saw the trap coming and was quickly killed. The brave human hunter returned to his village the next day dragging the carcass of one of the young and telling other hunters of the location of his prize so that they could retreive it. The tribe feasted on the meat and The young hunter was marked as a hero (their had been a drought/famine, which is why so much food was needed).
One year later, The young hunter would come to regret what he had done. One day after another succsesful hunt, the young hunter found his village in ruins. BUildings had been destroyed, fires burned here and their. There was heavy damage from fire and acid everywere. The boy ran to were his dwelling had been and found the mutalated and partaly eaten corpses of his family. As he serveyed the damage he heard a footstep behind him, that of a huge beast. He turned and before him stood the massive T-rex he had slaughtered that fateful day exactly one year ago. Its missing eye and the unforgetable scares he had given it clear identifiers. The young boy thought: "this is not possible. I killed it and we feasted on its body." And yet before him stood the beast he had killed, even more furocious now, and infused with the blood of dragons and fiends, among other creatures. Something else had changed about it though. An unknown rune, probably the mark of whatever creature returned the Demon-lizard to life now was burned in the beasts chest and shined in the empty left eye socket. With one last look of horror at his village, his friends and family, and the beast he thought dead that had caused it, The young hunter was eaten unserimouniously. Since then the terrible creature known as Thry'glaxir has dissapeared, ocasionally it will ravage a village in a fit of pure distruction, or sinze of its hunting are found, however this is not the biggest worry. Since that day, four other similarly reborn predatory dinosuars, bearing that unknown rune have appeared. They gain their vengence, then wonder the jungles bringing about vilant distruction and brutile slaughter.

Okay, here is what I have: The primary dino-riding races for my little project are Aasimar, Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Halflings, half-Elves, half-Orcs,and Humans. They were taught how to domesticate and train dinosaurs by a group of ancient and mighty Titans. I was leaning toward the ceratopsians for the dwarves, and some of the big theropods for the humans. I'm just not sure what to go with for the smaller races or the elves. The CR of the dinosaurs I need should be somewhere around 5-8, and Im not sure which of the myriad of prehistoric beasts would meet this CR.

The CR of the dinosaurs I need should be somewhere around 5-8, and Im not sure which of the myriad of prehistoric beasts would meet this CR. Riding Beasts for individuals would need to be at least large (medium for Gnomes and halfllings). Not many dinos will fit that bill because they arent made for riding (i.e. arent quadrupedal), and most of hte ones that are are much bigger. So you have masses riding on the backs of sauropods and ceratopsians. But there are prehistoric animals other than dinosaurs that could be used. I'll try to think of something soon. I was told this week that I'm cancer free so I'll be celebrating.
