A huge lumbering newt as large as a man.

This salamander-like amphibian, often reaching 6 feet in length, is a common fear of those living in the deep swamps. Its appearance is distinctive due to its huge head and large eyes. It preys upon any creature it can catch.

Combat
The eryops grabs its prey in its great jaws.

Hold Breath (Ex): An eryops can hold its breath for a nuber of rounds equal to 5 x its Constitution modifier.

Skills: An eryops gains a +8 racial bonus to Swim checks.

[Note: I know a previous eryops was posted on page 23 of this thread. However, I was making a version that fits in better with my view of the beast. In my view, due to its soft skin and slow movements, it would not be a particulary powerful creature. I can easily imagine a modern large dog, such as a wolfhound, whipping an eryops in a fight.]

The creatures resting on the bank are quite unusual, looking like furry crocodiles.

The ambulocetus may look like a furred crocodile, but it is in fact a primitve limbed whale. These unusual cetaceans haunt the coastal waters and forest waterways. Mysterious as they are unusual, ambulocetus are rarely seen.

Combat
An ambulocetus will bite an opponent and attempt to drown it.
Improved Grab (Ex): If an ambulocetus bites an opponent, it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. No initial touch attack is required. Improved grab works only against opponents that are Medium or smaller. The ambulocetus may conduct the grapple normally, or use its bite to hold the opponent. If it chooses to do the latter, it takes a –20 penalty on grapple checks, but is not considered grappled itself; it doesn't lose its Dexterity bonus to AC, still threatens an area, and can use its remaining attacks against other opponents. Each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals bite damage. When the ambulocetus gets a hold after an improved grab attack, it pulls the opponent into its space. This act does not provoke attacks of opportunity. The ambulocetus can even move, along with the opponent, if it can drag its weight.
Hold Breath (Ex): An ambulocetus can hold its breath for a number of rounds equal to 7 x its Constitution modifier.

Does anybody want to do velociraptor? Everyone seems to confuse them with deinonychus, while they were in fact much smaller.

Alignment: Always neutral

Combat
Velociraptors use their sharp claws and teeth in combat. If they can get the chance, they'll leap into the air and rake the opponent.
Pounce (Ex): When a velociraptor makes a charge, it can follow with a full attack, including a rake.
Rake (Ex): A velociraptor gains extra natural attacks when it grapples its foe. It gains two additional claw attacks that it can use only against a grappled foe. Rake attacks are not subject to the usual –4 penalty for attacking with a natural weapon in a grapple. A velociraptor must begin its turn grappling to use its rake. It cannot begin a grapple and rake in the same turn.

Got a question for you guys. Lets say I was working on a new campaign (yes this involves the surprise I mentioned earlier). Would you guys prefer a campaign that allows you to play Dinos, or a prehistoric survival horror campaign thats a tad Lovecraftian.

I'd prefer a survival campaign myself. Unless there is a good reason for playing nonsentients, I usually stay away from animal character.

The animal campaign is a world where Druids were forced to awaken many animals and they bred true. So now they have become an actual race.

Lovecraft was a writer in the 20's responsible for creating a new type of horror and for making his own mythology. You can find more on him here:

Got more links if your curious.
