Raptorial]Nice fish. After seeing Chased by Sea Monsters, the swallow whole for xiphac sounds so right. Poor hesperonis (not! :evillaugh ). As for treasure, I would figure it would have swallowed at least a little during its life. As soon as I can I will stat out some creatures. Darn Kencyclopedia :surrender :headexplo :hoppingma !

*Is happy to report that it appears Kencyclopedia is back up*

Looking forwards to seeing what you s wrote:

A massive bird similar to a giant vulture sits perched on a cliffside. It looks you up and down, then takes to the sky with massive force. The bird then grabs you in its talons, carrying you away to its nest.

Argentavis is a massive bird related to the eagles and vultures it so much resembles. It dwells in the heights of the great mountain rangess, either sitting on cliffsides or riding the thermals in search of prey.

Combat
Argentavis has 2 methods of killing prey-the swoop 'n squash or a beak attack. In a swoop 'n squash, it slashes painfully with its claws, and then proceeds to grab the prey and carry it up into the sky. After reaching a sufficient height, the argentavis drops the prey, letting it get smashed on the ground. If the bird itself is assaulted, it will attemp to bash the assailant with its wings or pierce its flesh with its dangerous beak.
Improved Grab (Ex): If an argentivis hits with its claw attack, it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. No initial touch attack is required. Improved grab works only against opponents size large or smaller. The argentavis has the option to conduct the grapple normally, or simply use its talons to hold the opponent. If it chooses to do the latter, it takes a –20 penalty on grapple checks, but is not considered grappled itself; it does not lose its Dexterity bonus to AC, still threatens an area, and can use its remaining attacks against other opponents. A successful hold does not deal any extra damage. Each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals the damage indicated for the attack that established the hold. When an argentavis gets a hold after an improved grab attack, it pulls the opponent into its space. This act does not provoke attacks of opportunity. It can even move (possibly carrying away the opponent), provided it can drag the opponent’s weight.

Procoptodon is the largest species of kangaroo to ever live. Standing at a resounding 12 feet in height, it is a menacing creature. A procoptodon uses its huge hind limbs as bludgeons to fend of smaller predators or among the males to establish dominance. If a larger predator such as a megalania attempts to assault the mob, they will bound at top speed in a zig-zag pattern to attempt an escape.

Combat
A procoptodon uses its huge feet in combat.
Pounce (Ex): When a procoptodon makes a charge, it can follow with a full attack.

Society
Procoptodons live in large groups similar to that of modern kangaroos called mobs. A mob is led by the toughest male, known simply as the boss. Mobs are usually quiet with the exception of the occasional fight for dominance or females.

Level Adjustment: -

Dromornis stirtoni, nicknamed "the demon duck of doom", is one of the largest species of flightless birds, close in size to aepyornis maximus A.K.A. the elephant bird. It lives in mountainside jungles and feed upon berries, small mammals, and reptiles. Despite their appearance to be an emu with an eagle's head, dromornis are actually related to ducks and geese. The native aboriginal people know that even though it doesn't eat humans it is still a danger to them. If a skilled group of hunters can take down a dromornis, they have a large source of quality and very delicious meat.

Combat
Dromornis is a fierce fighter. It usually employs its beak like a lance, stabbing and biting an enemy until blood is drawn. It also has a powerful kick that can send a smaller person reeling.

Ekaltadeta
Medium Animal
Hit Dice: 1d8+6 (10 hp)
Initiative: +3 (+3 Dex)
Speed: 35 ft. (7 squares)
Armor Class: 14 (+3 Dex, +1 natural), touch 13, flat-footed 11

Ekaltadeta is a species of kangaroo that, unlike its cousins, is a predator. It hunts snakes, lizards, small mammals, and even dromornis chicks (when the parent isn't looking). Its pelt is tan with black stripes down its neck and back. Ekaltadeta are less social than their cousins.

Combat
Ekaltadeta relies on its jaws and (to a lesser extent) legs during combat
Pounce (Ex): When an ekaltadeta makes a charge, it can follow with a full attack.

Megalania Prisca :D

Alignment: Always neutral
Advancement: 5-8 HD (Huge); 9-12 HD (Gargantuan)
Level Adjustment: -

As you sit on a log, a mob of procoptodon suddenly run past you, startled by something. An enormous lizard then bursts out of the scrub, barreling towards its prey.

Megalania is a huge lizard, rivaled only by the saltwater crocodile in its native land. The natives fear this mighty beast and revere it as the guardian of the bush. Megalania mainly feed on procoptodons or diprotodons, although emus are also on their list of favored prey. This creature is a massive relative of the komodo dragon.

Combat
The usual tactic of megalania is to sit and wait in the brush. When prey passes by, it explodes in a burst of energy. Unlike its smaller cousin, megalania doesn't have the harmful bacteria that helps to kill prey. With fast prey like emus and procoptodon there's only one shot-if the prey isn't knocked down in one bite, it escapes.
Powerful Charge (Ex): When a megalania makes a charge, its attack deals an extra 2d6 points of damage in addition to the normal benefits and hazards of a charge.

Score! I just ran across this thread, and it is wonderful to see the stats for a Megalania! Kudos Raptorial on bringing the giant lizard back to D&D I noticed that you had also considered Brontoscorpio anglicus for statting out. It's one of my favorite creatures, and I think you could create it by simply giving a small monstrous scorpion the Amphibious special quality and the aquatic subtype. Of course, it's always nice to see some pre-dinosaurian creatures hit the scene, and although I don't know if it's already been done, it would be great to see stats for Eurypterids (like Pterygotus). Anyway, very cool creatures (loved the Dunkleosteus entry, as well as the monstrous trilobites).
