Im finding several of the Pellucidar books available free online so im gonna be reading up before I do the Mahars. They have several complications and will probably be a better monster than race. Among other things they're addicted to eating humans, stone deaf, have nasty psionic powers, and they're all female. Cant see many people wanting to play that.

And now... in fancy font-o-vision... as promised...
TARBOUND
A tarbound is a Scaled One, a dinosaur more often than not, that meets their untimely fate in a pit of malevolent tar. Typically raised by Yuan-Ti clerics, their bodies are masses of bones, putrid flesh, and black, oozing tar.
CREATING A TARBOUND
"Tarbound " is an acquired template that can be added to any living, corporeal Scaled One (referred to hereafter as the base creature).
A tarbound uses all the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted here.
Size and Type The creature's type changes to undead. Size is unchanged. It retains all subtypes, except (good) or (augmented). Do not recalculate base attack bonus or saves.
Hit Dice All current and future HD are raised to d12. Do not increase or drop class HD.
Speed A tarbound creature's base land speed, burrow, and swim speeds (if any) decrease by 10 feet. Its fly speed (if any) decreases by 20 feet.
Armor Class Natural armor improves based on size. Consult the table below.
Size Natural Armor Class Tiny or smaller +1 Small +2 Medium or Large +4 Huge or Gargantuan +6 Colossal +8
Attack A tarbound creature retains all the natural weapons, manufactured weapon attacks, and weapon proficiencies of the base creature, except for attacks that can’t work without flesh. The base creature also gains an additional natural attack; a slam. Consult the table below for damage.
Size Damage Fine 1d2 Diminutive 1d3 Tiny 1d4 Small 1d6 Medium 1d8 Large 2d6 Huge 3d6 Gargantuan 5d6 Colossal 6d6
Special Attacks
Breath Weapon (Su): A tarbound creature retains all the special attacks of the base creature and gains a breath weapon, a expulsion of steaming tar (fire type damage), usable once every 1d4 minutes. A tarbound creature’s breath weapon deals 1d8 points of damage per every 2 HD (minimum 1d8), with a range of 30 ft. (cone). A successful Reflex save (DC 10 + 1⁄2 tarbound’s HD + tarbound's Con modifier) reduces damage by half.
In addition to the initial damage, any creature in the area of affect must make a second Reflex save (DC same) or be stuck in the rapidly hardening tar (see the entanglement spell) for 2d6 rounds. A creature can sunder the tar in his square to release himself. The tar has hardness 5 and 10 hit points per inch.
Special Qualities A tarbound has all the special qualities of the base creature, plus darkvision out to 60 feet and low-light vision. A tarbound has immunity to fire and cold.
Abilities Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +2, Con -, Int +2, Wis +4, Cha -6.
Skills Unlike a skeleton, a tarbound creature retains all of the skills he possessed as a living creature.
Challenge Rating Same as the base creature + 3 (minimum 4).
Alignment Always chaotic evil.
Level Adjustment Same as base creature +3.

It still needs some crunch-tweaking. I'm not too sure about the LA, but 3 seemed about right at the time. CR may be too low, though. Anyways, gimme some feedback and I'll do what I can for it.

Thought of this guy just a little bit ago. Tell me what you think.
Canisaur Medium Animal Hit Dice: 2d8+4 (14 hp) Initiative: +1 Speed: 50 ft. Special Attacks: Trip, pounce Special Qualities: Low-light vision, scent Saves: Fort +5, Ref +4, Will +0 Abilities: Str 16, Dex 12, Con 15, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 6 Skills: Hide +7, Listen +4, Move Silently +5, Spot +2 Feats: Power Attack, Toughness (B) Climate/Terrain: Temperate forests Organization: Solitary, pair, or pack (5-8) Challenge Rating: 3 Treasure: None Alignment: Always neutral Advancement: 3-6 HD (Medium) Level Adjustment: -
A canisaur is an abnormal cross between a hunting dog and a saurian predator. Its head resembles that of a larger hunter, such as the Tyrannosaur, with sharp, furred ears. Behind it swings its long, whip-like, reptilian tail. Its body is covered in thick brown fur and blotches of greenish-black scales. The canisaur's hind feet end in razor-sharp talons.
Combat
Trip (Ex) A canisaur that hits with a bite attack can attempt to trip the opponent (+4 check modifier) as a free action without making a touch attack or provoking an attack of opportunity. If the attempt fails, the opponent cannot react to trip the canisaur.
Pounce (Ex) If a canisaur charges, it can make a full attack.

Still working on the Mahars. In the meantime I thought Id give a brief description of some of the monsters in Dougal Dixons the New Dinosaurs and see if anyone would be interested in stats:
The Lank: In Ethiopia some Pterosaurs evolved into ground dwelling herbivores eventualy filling the niche currently ocupied by goats and antelope. Looks vaguely like a really weird giraffe.
The Taranter: A modern ankylosaur inhabiting the northern steppes, it has adapted to resist the fierce sandstorms of its area, and is also quite furry!
The Turtosaur: South American heavily armored relative of the Titanosaurs.
The Lumber: South American sauropod with a very short trunk (pretty much a snout) weighing in at 70 tonnes and up to 25 metres long.
The Cutlasstooth: Sabre toothed relative of the coelurosaurs from SOuth America.
The Gourmand: South American relative of the T Rex. It has lost its forearms and now has an armored back. 17 metres (60') long and weighing up to 15 tonnes they are now scavengers swallowing whole any dead carcasses they find.
The Coconut Grab: An Australian Ammonite adapted to spending long periods of time on land, where it climbs trees to prey on coconuts.
The Plunger: Vaguely penguin like Pterosaurs.
The Kraken: An Ammonite with a 13' diameter shell. It trails its 12 tentacles in the water with many smaller curtains of stinging tentacles hanging from them, covering an area roughly 20 metres in diameter. Anything caught in this net is poisoned and eaten.

Okay the Mahars are really limited outside of their campaign setting so to speak. So I'll go back to looking up prehistoric creatures. So what do y'all want stats for? Sea creatures, mammals that came after the dinos, reptiles that came before the dinos....Im open to anything.

I don't know why it seems to be only me that knows about this, but no one here has mention Dinosaur Planet. Please forgive me if I missed a post telling about it. Anyway, Dinosaur Planet: Broncosaurus Rex is an RPG from Goodman Games designed to work with D&D. Most of these dinosaurs are in it or one of its enhancements. It's as if no one knows about this game at all . Fear the raptors!! :D :evillaugh

Fear the raptors!! :D :evillaugh Well, I did a little bit of quick googling, and what I leanred (in a nutshell) is that there are dinosaurs on some foreign planet in the year 2202 (or was it 2022?). I'm not sure about buying a copy, especially seeing as 'Broncosaurus Rex' only got me four results on google. Not a good sign...
EDIT:
Effigy *snip*
Sweet. I think you mixed up the Strength a little bit though. An abilities bonus is equal to 1/2 the ability score (rounded down) - 5. So, the Strength bonus should be +9 instead of +8. Grapple should be +25. 10 (BAB) + 8 (size) + 9 (Str) = +25.
EDIT DEUX: Forgot, melee attack bonus should be +17, damage on bite should be 4d8+13 (oh, no!)
