So far, with Windows XP, the character builder is working. The only installation issue was that the .NET 3.5 took about 20 minutes with the progress bar full.
Yes, the .Net install is taking a long time, and the status bar does not reflect this time very accurately. We will be looking at this, in the meantime, either install .Net 3.5 SP1 before starting the install, or leave the installer going at least 30 minutes to do all the .Net loading and install...
Here are my questions. I have a number of what are categorized as houserules, such as new races. While I see the option to add a custom race, that only seems to be a placeholder, with no rules associated with the race that can apply to the rest of the sheet. So, for example, a custom race I have has a +2 to arcana as well as a racial power.
-How do I get that +2 bonus associated with the race? I don't see a way to edit my skills from the character builder in order to add miscellaneous modifiers. The "houserules" button only toggles "display illegal information."
You can do this from the character sheet directly. Edit your skill final number, and the character sheet will update with a Misc entry based on the difference between what you entered and the calculated number.
-How do I add the racial power to the character? When I add a power from the powers tab, it automatically fills it into one of the regular class slots, replacing that selection.
You can add a new User Power slot by clicking on the small house-like icon in the bottom left paner (power choice checklist)
