I don't know, sorry.
I once inquired (politely requested) regular updates but this was not honored---well, obviously, otherwise you hadn't asked ;-).
Totally unconfirmed rumor has it that they are plans to make the player database accessible online. Whether this is true or not, and if true, whether anything will come out of it, all this I don't know.
I guess all we can do is to wait and see.

Hay buddy, no problem. Thanks for your best shot and it lets me know it would be a good idea to photocopy the DCI membership slips before I send them in.
Keep on tossing cards.

Why don't you add names and DCI nos to your "Local Players" database within DCIR?

Why don't you add names and DCI nos to your "Local Players" database within DCIR? I was doing that. But because it is a lot of effort for nothing, in that I can't get the recorder to send non-rated event results to DCI, specially if the TO plays and you can not copy paste from the LPDB to the input screen at WPN, without taking a chance of mutilating the number, I have been trying to maintain an Access file of local playres. Once in awhile I screw up and send off a DCI registration card before I get the number into my db--my bad. If the kid looses it, runs it through the wash or eats it I don't have a number for him until the next issue of a members list. At first I was building an event in the recorder for every event held--again I kinda lost interest in work for nothing. Now I only do it for limited events where the recorder can do the pairing for me etc.
Easiest safeguard is to copy the registration cards and keep them on file.
If I'm missing something in the above, like a way to use the recorder to DL to WPN please let me know.

While on this topic, what are we supposed to do with the filled-out DCI sign-up cards that we receive? Reading this thread I am inferring that they need to be sent in? Does that actually do anything? My store has a stack of at least 100 cards from various TOs over the past few years that no one seems to know what to do with. All of these #s seem to work fine, the players are rated, etc.

I doesn't do much for you or the players, but WotC need the physical cards for compliance with COPPA.

OK, what is the address to send them to? Should I just put them in a giant padded envelope and ship them off?
COPPA is the Child Online Privacy Protection Act, not to be confused with COPA, the Child Online Protection Act which was struck down fairly recently. COPPA sets regulations on how companies can collect data from children under 13 online.

The address to send them to is on the "parental consent" half of the sign up.
