WotC came through with a constructed championship at GenCon. First prize is one of every mini.

So approx. $12.47 worth of prizes. :D

Still sounds interesting. I think I have Friday free so I should get a few bands together.

So, is [dbm]Nevret Flamer[/dbm] the core of a new breed of Chessmaster bands? Even the flavour text on Flamer is appro-po to the mission statement of a Chessmaster band.

I've been trying reinforce Valor for a bit. All Night Fusion brought was [dbm]stained-glass angel[/dbm]. And it's really only good as a one of from what I have seen. The band works REALLY well with [dbm]Mobile Command[/dbm]

[dbm]Kendra Vale[/dbm] turns the existing Hunter-Killer bands into a beast, thanks to Bloodport. She's pretty hard to deal with.

[dbm]Kendra Vale[/dbm] doesn't only help [dbm]Hunter-Killer[/dbm] bands – she pretty much rules in any band in which you can pay even two of her aspect cost. In fact, she is a pretty decent answer to [dbm]Hunter-Killer[/dbm] since she can chase it with Bloodport and her 8 dice are usually enough to kill it.

[dbm]Nevret Flamer[/dbm] is definitely an important piece, but I think he wants to be in purely /: bands. I'm personally trying very hard to make him work and I've seen some decent results. Except against stupid Hellbred...

I have not stopped playing weekly DB since Gen Con last year at my FLGS. We had sanctioning for a long time until we told the TO to not bother trying to get things sanctioned since Wizards in Australia was not doing anything with the results we were sending them. Moving on...

I have found that the new VP can actually be VPF. Skull Punks make it ridiculously easy to fill those (very) little gaps in the spawn curve that were taken up by less than ideal VP with some awesome F options. Not only that, Kendra and the Nightfire Giant make the Ragedrake redundant. The only problem is deciding which of the many great options to include. You can have an absoute ton of spawn phase movement effects and still have plenty of power and blade effects.

Jack of Blades is pretty much a given at that sucky 5X spot for VP. Other options are things like Sultan, Voodoo and Crypt Worm. There are tons of different tweaks that can be made at just about every spot on the curve and it is even possible to keep the top end down to Kendra as the highest cost (though I like to have the inevitability of the Nightfire) which also gives plenty of spawn points to spend on the potential three spawn phase movement effects this band could have (not counting Haunt Gambit).

With all the different movement effects, it can make life very difficult for the classic Well bands.

On the topic of Well bands, I have not really found any options from Night Fusion that make me want to mess with the original builds. Even though there are plenty of things that can go in, there are so few things I would want to take out. The obvious choice is, again, adding Skull Punks to make P, particularly the Siren, more playable.

I do think that Corpsebuilt bands have not benefitted at all from Night Fusion and, as a result, have become comparatively weaker since many other bands are now stronger.

I also think that the HK bands are pretty much dead.

...... speaking of Open Championships.... I just happened to notice that we have more signatures on our beloved Petition than registered players for the event.... Hopefully, there will be more by the end of the month when stimulus checks have been released...? Otherwise the people registered will be the same people in the top 8 tournament.... OUCH! *crossing fingers* Sadly, the number of people that attend will probably determin what the October Tournament will look like.... very sad.... Well, more money in my pocket this October... LOL. Come on guys/gals sign the petition & register for GenCon!

Special invites for October's Tournament will go out to GenCon Dreamblade Players and Petition signers.....
Still Trying to Find My Way Home... I hope I make it there before the snow..
