Well, I'm a little bit late to the party, but as far as the glue goes, you might try looking into jeweller's glue - basically a type of superglue that they use in jewelery-making... It's used for attaching stone to metal. You could probably find some online somewhere - I have a brand called GS Cement that works pretty well, although it doesn't dry as fast as your standard cyanoacrylate.

There is a type of Salt called Himalayan Pink salt. Might have a cool look to if for this creature type. They sell them at any Trader Joe's (Grocery Store.) Might be worth looking at. It is Salt though. So I cant guarantee anything lol.
