We're happy to announce the publication of the first issue of Unbroken: The DDM Guild Newsletter. The inaugural issue presents updates from our Design, Organized Play, and Chapter Leads. We're working hard, getting ready for the official hand-off of the D&D Miniatures Game in February 2008. Download and discuss!

Nice to see this up and running. May the name of the newsletter, which I take to be a reference to the unbroken spirit of gaming, also be a good omen for the game elements that the Guild produces. The ancient spell still hung unbroken over the wild, vast world of mystery beyond the sea

Pffft, Unbroken? This thing is so broken, that it absolutely dominates the DDM-newsletter metagame and has no comptetion in the same price range. :P
Really looking great! Those Boots of Speed are very interesting.

What is that "boots of speed" about. Is that for DDM Skirmish or the RPG side?

I'll give you a hint. The Guild isn't doing RPG stuff.

What is that "boots of speed" about. Is that for DDM Skirmish or the RPG side? Well, a quick look at the stats tell me the following: It's a magical item, like what has been suggested for the game several times in the past.
It seems to be attached to creature at the point cost of +5, granting the creature a single use special power, in this case Speed Boost. It's marked Civilization, so I'm guessing it's limited to that faction. Level 6 might mean you need to be level 6 or less, or level 6 or more to use it. Or it might be there for reference only. Also, the bottom of the card states Treasure Trove 2/16, Common. I'm guessing we'll be getting a "set" of similar magic items.
Overall, seems pretty cool.
(edit) Oh and it will be insane with Thrall of Blackrazor, if it works the way I think it does. Effective charge range of 30 on turn 2? Ouch.

I like the adding of magicitem or power cards...
Only thing I worry about is that it will just make uber units so much stronger... The last thing we need is to make a thrall more powerful or the TBA and the dragoloth also...
I hope some of these extra cards will help combat the start area nukers and over powered units out already..
News letter was great...
Cant wait for the online charpters to go in effect...

I hope some of these extra cards will help combat the start area nukers and over powered units out already... Well, if the Boots of Speed can be used with Thrall, then he could ruin a start-area nuker's day all by himself I suppose. At least on some maps.

Actually, magical items are not new to the game. An old Dragon Magazine Article provided D&DM 1.0 skirmish options for magical items. These cards seem to be pretty much along the same lines.
