It is very possible that 2 boosters make 100 point play just fine. It may cost a little more than DuD one-booster 100 point, and would have two 'fixed' figures (potentially two of X different), but would offer a couple more options.

And, from my experience, 100 point one-booster play is all sorts of fun.

Like I said it may be possible (without stat cards it is not).

I love 100 point limited. I had at Gencon in the 100 sealed and league.

The price point may be a small issue but not a large issue. My concern for limited is stat card distribution or lack there of. Lack of any comment is the most concerning thing. My comments over at hordelings sum up my feelings on that (they are rational ones) and I won't rehash them here. I will just say I am worried.

do I have this correct?

1 box of heroes – 3 minis, $11?
1 box of monsters – 5 minis, $15?

So, $26 for what I used to get for $15?

Also, on the unique power cards – will those be exclusive to the minis packs, and if I want to use them in an official game I’ll need the official card? Did you need the rewards cards in previous eras to actually use that power in an official game?

For one who prefers 200 point limited, I think it should be quite doable with 3 boosters, expensive though...

If I'm right about heroes being of higher quality, then no - you're getting less lower quality minis for more cost. I mean, let's be honest, you can get commons for a quarter each, so if we're doing the equivalent of trading 2 commons for 2 rares, then that's a big difference.

Though it's difficult to compare by rarity in non-randomizes heroes packs.

I actually wonder if it'll be a lot more about using the monsters packs than the heroes ones. Though the heroes ones would be great for commander, letting you guarantee a certain core of your band then using the monsters for the rest. Hmm.

I don't think they can raise the quality enough for me to want to pay 70% more than I'm currently paying. That's a big price jump. How good would the minis have to be for that to be worth it?

This has been posted twice now. And while I'm not happy with the increase in price, this isn't a particularly accurate way to view the increase. The pricing structure for the PC minies has no connection to the way boosters have been priced in the past.

It'd be more precise to look at it this way. One case of twelve boosters, $180, gave you 96 minies. Now, one case of twelve boosters will give you only 60 minies for $180. It's still bad but, it's more like spending $24 to get the same amount, not $26.

Well, it depends. If you're like me - I get... a _lot_... of extra minis that I don't need in order to build up my rares and uncommons to where I want.

My friends borrow minis from me when they run D&D, and I'll do things like "Oh, you need a dozen tavern brawlers... hey, that's exactly how many I have, great". So having 10-18 of a particular common is of dubious usefulness, when I can't even ebay them for more than a quarter each.

Whereas I'd expect the value of 'Dragonborn Paladin' to stay comfortably in the couple buck range - and if demand is sufficient compared to supply - for the value to go nicely up in later years.

So it depends on how much of your collection you actually use - if the percentage of usefulness goes up, that's a mitigating factor.

As for the cards, I'd guess that you still get a card with the skirmish and RPG stats. The power card is probably separate card with a description or fluff text of the power one side and the actual stats on the other. This would let you use the power card with whatever PC you happen to want to use it with while keeping the skirmish/RPG card for DDM or whatever. Just my thought at the moment.

Hey guys...

While we do read the forums regularly for feedback, the best way to make sure your input gets to the people who need to see it is through the Customer Service site. Click on the Email Us tab and select the topic "Miniature Games > D&D Miniatures > Other" for general feedback and suggestions. You can also get clarifications on any burning questions that you might have (provided that information is publicly available, of course... no asking for future set lists ).
