Hi and well met

I am interested to know if I hit the mark with a character I am planning. I usually try to find a picture that inspires me and then develop a character mechanically around the picture. I would like to find out how you see the character below. How would you describe him? His attitude? His clothing?

Credits for the picture go to choltrain. It was uploaded on Photobucket. The file name is thief_concept_by_cristi_b-d3fka8v.jpg

Someone privileged who's fqallen on hard times (possibly in space). He has upper-class clothing until you hit the worn out pants. It's screaming Master Privateer.

You can, but only once. That friend can't give it to anyone else. The holy corporation has spoken. Stop complaining and give them all your money.

But how will they know?

First, an experience from a game I played in a few years back. Our DM didn't like 3.5 as a whole but liked parts of it. So he hands us a big ass rules packet for his modified FR campaign, complete with quotes from important NPC's on the front. I can't remember most of the HRs, just that some how gods like Cyric and Bhaal existed at the same time, despite the obvious problems there. In the end the game became a problem more because of the railroading than the HRs, but it ended with this classic line, after our ranger tried to disarm the strange woman following us WITH HIS BOW: DM: You just killed (insert random noble sounding name here) JP: Was she important? Jack: Dude, she's quoted on the front of the rules packet!

After the meetup with Bastila (as she's carrying Revan's body), only TWO jedi masters remained with her. Let me tell you, the player whining about not getting to fight Revan himself shut up pretty quickly when he saw that.

A see a character who is somewhat aloof although if that is because of his upbringing or skill it's hard to say.  It probably was, or thinks he was, a bit upscale at one time with the vest perhaps overall style but the rolled up sleeves and more importantly the pants suggest otherwise.

In terms of game mechanics there are, as always, so many different way to take him.  I'd guess its a human male.  It also seems to me that he is wearing some kind of tool kit on his arm band which would suggest training in Mechanics.  He's also proficient with a pistol but what hero isn't?  I know it isn't helpful but I could easily see building this character from any of the base classes except Jedi (he's got a pistol and no lightsaber) although if he started in Soldier you may expect to see some armor depending on his level.

Easily a noble/scoundrel quick-draw mechanic.  Leaves his wealthy upbringing with some kind of background story that brings complications to the party, and makes his own on outer-rim planets.

Thanks all!

As a follow-up, I was planning a scoundrel-type, gunslinger, single pistol wielder.

Here's a small physical description of him from my concept writing:

"By the costume, we may often know the man. More often than not, Mereel will be seen wearing a shirt under a double-breasted waistcoat with a brightly-colored cravat knotted at his neck, heavy trousers and boots. Quality pieces all, but faded and worn; a polished and elegant appearance for a man known for an ever-present low-slung pistol on his hip, a dichotomy that Mereel seems to embrace rather fondly."

The Scoundrel-Fortune talent tree would seem appropriate.
