Hi everyone, and welcome back to You Build the Character. This month's competition is to build Her Highnessness, Leia Organa Solo, Princess of Alderaan and proverbial kisser of Wookiees. You have until 11.59pm (PT) on Thursday 24 March to post your RPG stats, and any notes you want to post explaining your decisions. Once submissions have closed, all forum members will have until 11.59pm (PT) on Thursday 31 March to vote for their favourite. Whichever build receives the most votes will win.
The prize for winning is having your stats enshrined in the YBtC Hall of Fame, as well as the bragging rights.
The following rules apply to all submissions:
All builds must be created according to RAW, with no house rules (no single Athletics skill, no bonus feats for bloodlines etc).
You may use "unlimited" point buy for Leia's ability scores, provided each score is between 3 and 18 at first level (before racial and age adjustments).
You are free to use material from all official Saga Edition books, up to and including The Unknown Regions.
Your stats may represent Princess Leia at any point during her life, or serve as an overall interpretation of the character as a whole. You may even include multiple stats to represent multiple points in time, provided they are all different level versions of the same build (ie no swapping out talents or feats).
Princess Leia is a Human, and as such uses the Human species traits provided on page 23 of the core rulebook.
You may change your stats at any point up until submissions close, at which point any edited stats will be disqualified.

I decided to do the classic Princess Leia. She's feisty, very hard to intimidate or interrogate, but not physically tough (knocked flat by a stun blast, after all). I'm not sure if she actually understands Chewbacca in that first movie. Doesn't seem like it, but by the time she levels up and takes an Int increase she'll get Linguist for free. So without further ado...

I went a very different route for the feisty princess. A friend and I sat down and worked on this together for several hours over a pizza, describing what we saw Leia do in the movies. We both came to the same conclusion. Compared to what we see her do, in relation to the various talents and feats, she didn't act like a noble at all, or at least very little. Instead, she acted more like a scoundrel and a soldier than anything else, especially in A New Hope. In the following movies, we see more and more of that feisty and unorthodox style of hers.
For the stats, I diverged off my normal 32 point buy and did a random generation. The stats we came up with were 18, 16, 13, 13, 12, 12. In a point buy, this would relate to a 44 point buy.

ok, when we first see her, she is programming Artoo, then covers for his escape by distracting the Stormies. She is clearly trained in deception. Although her deception fails against Vader on her ship, I would say she succeeded against Tarkin later. She later shows great skill in persuasion and deception in the later movies, but for now this is focusing on what we see in A New Hope. She also resists the mind probe. During the trench scene, Leia covers for Luke, drawing fire from the Stormies and using the Blaster Rifle with a good degree of Skill. In many of the combat scenes through out the movies, she is covering someone: Artoo, Luke, Lando, and Han at some point in time. One reason for starting out as a Scoundrel is that she doesn't act like a Noble. She acts more like a scoundrel, which is one reason why I think Han got so attracted to her.

I know .. I know .. Crime Lord?? CRIME LORD?? Princess Leia a Crime Lord?? Think about it though. It really shows off in Hoth Base, and later on Bespin as everyone is withdrawing. Also the way she stands over Lando while Chewie is choking the life out of him just screams for it. Then she bosses Chewie around and he follows like without question. Although she's not a Crime Lord in the strictest sense with a criminal empire, she does act like one.

Now, we have her at the end of Return of the Jedi. My friend and I sat down and noticed how she seemed to attract Wicket, almost as a minion. Through Threepeo's expertise, she's able to attract more. I thought about giving her piloting instead of Use the Force, but Use the Force made more sense in the long run, especially at the end, and shortly after in the EU. Another question that might arise is why go with scoundrel and not take Stealth. Simply, she's not that skilled in Stealth. We see her use it maybe twice, once on her ship in A New Hope, and again in Jabba's palace. Both instances are more like she's using it untrained rather than skill.
I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.
I couldn’t resist a peek, and I am so glad I did. These are all really amazing portrayals of Lea. Not to take anything away from these awesome entries but… Wow, I mean really… wow Quvmoh. Your astute observations and explanation of Lea are unbelievably awesome!
To explain the attributes, we actually had multiple sets. We did a couple point buy sets, one at 32 point buy, and another at 36. We also did three random generations. This is the one we chose because we felt it best represented Princess Leia.
