This competition is now closed. As I mentioned in this thread, I’m going to be running a regular competition where board members submit their version of a selected area of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Saga Edition. The winner will have their entry enshrined in You Make The... Hall of Fame and the attendant bragging rights therein.
Expendability can be an important factor in war. Droids, whatever other attributes/issues they may possess, have one important advantage - they are far easier to replace than flesh-and-blood troopers during times of war. In the case of the B1-series used by the Trade Federation/Separatists, they could (virtually) be produced faster than they could be destroyed - assuming the supply of materials needed can be maintained.
This months challenge is to create a new (ie. not found in canon) 4th-degree droid - perhaps one you've created to challenge your players, spy on them or generally irritate them... It might be a common design, rare or even a unique construct - such as the HK-47's/PROXY's of the galaxy.
You have until 23:59 (GMT) Monday January 10th 2011 to post your entry and any notes explaining your decisions. You may include a backstory for your droid (design history, origin, etc.) if you so wish. Once submissions have closed, all forum members will have until 23:59 (GMT) Monday January 17th 2011 to vote for their favourite. Whichever entry receives the most votes will win. In the event of a tie, I will cast the deciding vote.
Note: PST is -8 hours compared to GMT.
Contest Rules :1mana: Your 4th-degree droid must be represented by a single stat block, though you may use any combination of Heroic and Non-heroic levels you wish to represent it :2mana: Your 4th-degree droid must be created according to RAW, no house rules (no single Athletics skill), etc. and you may use either the SECR ruleset or the Scavenger's Guide to Droids ruleset to create it :3mana: You may generate your 4th-degree droids ability scores by rolling, using the standard droid array or by using unlimited point buy provided that each score is between 3 and 18 at first level prior to 'species' adjustments :4mana: You may use any and all material from the official Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Saga Edition books :5mana: You may change your entry at any point up until submissions close, at which point any edited stats will be disqualified :6mana: You may only submit one entry
Have fun everyone and remember: The Dark Side is always with you.
I think I may just have to break out the very first Saga statblock that I made (not counting conversions) and enter it in this one

The Confederacy of Independent Systems experimented with HRDs to confuse their organic opponents in the Clone Wars. Neutronium steel armored combat droids covered in cloned organic tissue, the initial model performed promisingly in trials, but suffered a flaw. . . every model looked exactly the same. A later model, the CIS 101 T-900, used differently sized chassis, fluctuation in assembly of droid heads, and variation in cloned tissue coating procedures to create models with individual appearances, everything from petite females to hulking males.

ChortleDroid During the Jedi Civil War, these units were employed by the Sith both as brutal warriors as well as interrogators. Upon completion, each is programmed with a different language to speak as well as basic.
In battle, they would be deployed in groups of seven, each running among the enemy ranks, laughing maniacally in its own language, cutting down whoever they passed. They are programmed to behave like giggling madmen on the battlefield.
In interrogation, the same group of seven would ask the questions in unison in different languages, while prodding the victim with shock sticks.

Small enough to fit through air ducts, nimble enough to scale a building, and deadly enough to take out all but the most heavily armed security guards, S-86 droids are some of the galaxy's most feared assassins. Painted matte black, with six legs and six glowing red photoreceptors, they resemble huge metal spiders, and are fearsome enough to send chills through even the most seasoned warriors.S-86s are most often deployed in groups of three to five, though some have been seen in groups of up to fifteen. In battle, they use their whipcords to entangle their opponents... and then they move in to finish them off, even blowing themselves up to kill their target.

I am both rational and emotional. I value creation and discovery, and feel strongly about what I create. At best, I'm innovative and intuitive. At worst, I'm scattered and unpredictable.
Here is my holiday-flavored droid, Fras-T. He was built as a cavalry droid for the CIS. Why buy swoops and other ground vehicles for droids when you can build them as a single piece. Unfortunately, because of his high cost factor, he didn't get more than a few prototypes in the field. The B-1s loved these droids, watching them bounce on ground foes with all the glee of a sports fan sitting in a bleacher.
The droids stop shooting and turn away from you. They start cheering, “Fras-T! Fras-T!” There’s a loud roar from a souped-up repulsor engine. Then, a droid the size of a large swoop bike passes between the battle droids and leaps onto the bridge, engines blasting at your ear drums. The droid chasis is covered in thick white durasteel that bubbles out from its core. There is a large bubble over its thorax, a slightly smaller one over its abdomen and a smaller armor bubble shell over its photoreceptors. It has what looks like a black pipe on its head, which generates a personal shield. Blaster cannons are mounted near its thorax, and a large vibrolance extends beneath the blasters. Its arms are used to pull white stun grenades from inside its abdomen and drop them as it passes its target.

Prepare to run and hide from my entry (darn, someone stole the evil laughter icon)
I give to you, the Mark III Czerka Tank Droid, based on the one you fight in the Telos Hangar Bay in KotOR2, but made bigger and much more dangerous.
Though primarily intended for use in the Clone Wars or Dark Times eras, it can have its weapons scaled back a little to fit in earlier eras (as I recall, the Mark I that you fight in KotOR2 only had a big blaster and a big flame-thrower) or found abandoned in later eras with some defect or the Antiquated template from the Legacy Era Campaign Guide to show its age.
The Mark III Czerka Tank Droid was designed on Arkania for the Republic during the Clone Wars, but was not purchased due to the preference for living troops and piloted vehicles, rather than self-guiding vehicle-sized droids. In appearance, it is similar to a 4-legged AT-ST, with a vicious claw mounted on a rotating section above the legs and beneath the boxy head area. All of the heavy weapons are mounted on the head, while the blaster rifles are mounted between the legs and use a sophisticated sensor system to ensure that their fire never impacts the legs of the droid. A small shipment was mysteriously redirected to a Confederacy stronghold towards the end of the war. As they were not tied in to central control computers, and capable of adaptive tactics, they were not shut down automatically, and instead fought to their destruction. With the war over, and Czerka fully Nationalised, only a few of these droids remained in storage on Arkania. Very few were aware of them, making them an unwelcome surprise should anyone attempt to infiltrate or otherwise attack Czerka facilities on Arkania. It should also be noted that Emperor Palpatine never let any useful technology go to waste, and it is entirely possible that he would have quietly obtained a few of these droids for use defending some of his various secret projects.

Design Note - It was so long ago that I did this that I cannot remember what point-buy I used... if I even used one. I just set Strength to maximum (18 plus 16 for size then boosted it every 4 levels). Hit points were done (as usual) with my standard method (4 for non-heroic 1, then 2 for each subsequent non-heroic level, then 8 for each Soldier level, plus 16 from Toughness, and 100 from Hardened Systems gives 174. I then added 1 to make it a nice round number. Extra Legs was a last-minute addition (thus changing it from the 2-legged design of KotOR2 to a 4-legged version) to make sure that the blasted thing could move.
This thing is an absolute beast to fight if done properly, hence the "+" in the CL category. By the book, there is no provision for things like Hardened Systems increasing a droid's effective CL, leaving us with the whole "any non-heroic 12, Soldier 4 is a CL8" issue. With heavy weapons and Far Shot, this droid could easily TPK a group of level 8 characters on a large battlefield, especially as it can deal triple damage on crits. Fighting it in a smaller enclosed space like a warehouse or hangar bay negates the range advantage, but the sheer damage potential should never be under-estimated. (And if you were wondering, I had planned to sic this, and a couple of "malfunctioning" search & rescue droids with vibro-saw arms on my players at one stage)
