I have good news for all of you SSB players. I was able to listen in on the first Sith Holo News Network last night where they interviewed Jim Fraser aka Moses aka the Godfather! Most of you probably know of Jim. Last night Jim announced that they are working on plans for SSB event(s) for GenCon 2010. Jim could not go into any details this early, but he did hint to at least one tournament with some new/expanded rules. That is about all of the information that he was able to share at this time. This was great news for me on a personal level. Starship Battles is the reason I even play SWM. While I agree that the the rules could be better, I feel that the rules we have are not that horrible. I know I am probably in the minority. I would be open to new rules if it gets my Starships out of storage and on the game table again. I just wanted to share this news with the SSB players. There weren't that many people on the live call. Take care!

That is fantastic news! If nothing else, it is a chance for them to determine how much interest there is in SSB, and if there is enough, expand it even further. PLease, keep us updated!
My unofficial SSB Website4-14-10 Uploaded the Base Pack of stat cards for Desperate Encounters. These cards are for the 60 stock SSB Models, making them compatible with DE. Coming Soon: DE: Reputations. Reputations in battle are earned, not given... An expansion pack containing stat cards for unique fighter squadrons, unique versions of stock SSB ships, and generic versions of unique SSB ships.

The SSB rules sucked, plain and simple. I love the pieces (even though TECHNICALLY they belong to my son). I was really glad to hear this and trust Moses & Co to come up with some good rules, especially since i would bet my starship that the people involved are also people that know War at Sea. I am excited for SSB to be at Gencon and hope it works. If it does, MAYBE WotC would think about a future set...NM that may be giving them too much credit.

You know, even if they created a Rules Update and offered it as a free download it would probably be good for WotC. And really, not terribly difficult. Less work than, say, a single episode of Dawn of Defiance.
