Billiv does both. I do both. I know there are some others, but I can't think of their usernames off the top of my head.

And no, I didn't apply for the position. It's not something I'm interested in under the current set-up (meaning no compensation).

I disagree to quote the VCL Handbook but this should not be the only reason you do it.

the Community Management Team will also oversee a rewards program for volunteers. Through this program VCLs may occasionally, and at the sole discretion of the Community Management Team, receive promotional items (that may include products) from Wizards of the Coast. Decisions by the Community Management Team about the rewards program will be informed by the effort and success of individual VCLs in helping meet the community building goals of Wizards of the Coast.

VCLs may occasionally, and at the sole discretion of the Community Management Team, be invited to attend special events held by Wizards of the Coast. These events may range from large-sized major gaming conventions to small-sized get-togethers with a handful of other VCLs and Wizards staff.

For these events, the Wizards Community Team may decide to cover some or all of the costs involved in VCLs attending the event. This may be as simple as Wizards’ purchasing an exhibitor badge for a VCL, or could be as involved as Wizards’ paying for all travel and accommodation expenses. The more active and successful a VCL is in helping with community building initiatives, the more likely they are to be invited to attend special events.

Any amount of prizes or products awarded to VCL members may not exceed $600 per year.

A note about character and world creation
Spoiler: Show

Character and world creation are a form of expression. The point is that some people don't have much to say...
