I think the map packs were mentioned to be 1 per month in the spring of 2009.

Also, Rob or Chris mentioned that Clone Wars is the biggest thing going with SW at the moment, and it will continue to be a "mini-theme" in most sets even after Clone Wars with perhaps 3-6 minis from CW in each set.

The reasons for the change to 40 minis was two-fold. First, it makes it easier for the collectors to finish a set and with the current economy WotC was wise to the fact that gamers will drop their hobby if it becomes too expensive to keep up. Second, with 40 piece minis, they can focus on making better minis - i.e. less duds stat wise.

I got the impression that it wasn't better stats, but better sculpt and paint quality they were after. Actual production quality. It was stated rather ambiguously though, so I could see how it could be misinterpreted. And they were pretty up-front about their internal issue being the main reason and the easier collectability being a happy side-effect for players.

I shared them with Lady Hothie and she was going to post them on theforce.net, so you might check with her.

I hope that we get better everything, but the line definitely needs some improved production quality. Many of the poses in this set are not very dynamic (Atton Rand, Carth, many Sith) and we have serious Yoda head syndrome. Compare the Mandos with each other.

Tommy Boy quote:

"Right, like it was some other big fat guy with a tiny head."

"I've got a tiny head?"

Mando Quartermaster vs Mando Scout. Ridiculous.

It just seems like there are different artists working on the same line and not communicating a scale standard between each other. I don't know. Thats just what it seems like. Or maybe its a molding issue and something happening between the US and China?

The whole scale issue is a problem. Does it bother me with Yoda? You bet it does. However, the non-uniques is where it really hurts. A few older pieces that come to mind: Tusken Sniper, Gamorrean Thug, Uggie Tech. Compared to previous incarnations (see Tusken Raider and Gamorrean Guard), those two looked ridiculous. The Sniper is pitifully small when compared to the original Raider. On the flipside, the Gam Thug appears gigantic next to an old Guard. I would love to see some consistency within species/factions.

Another related note: is the Tusken Scout to scale with the Tusken Raider?

Well sure, there's no reason not to be hopeful in that regard. I just think the change from 60 to 40 has to do with the minis themselves. I don't think Rob's stat design schedule gains much given that he'll still be mostly designing in a vaccuum as he always has and costing correctly will still be the same educated guess it always has been. I'm sure there will be some benefits at the design stage (in theory, you're freed up to split your one page of new powers and abilities over fewer pieces so less repetition of new powers is demanded) but I don't expect a lot of difference.

The starter for CS is done, its coming out in November as planned with Clone Wars, it will have a new map(s), some figures, and most importantly a new rule book with updated rules.

Now are the figures in the CW starter part of the 40 mini set? Like is Obi-Wan in Clone Armor 1 of the 40 or just exclusive to the starter?

I have the picture. That's it. If it can't be figured out from there, I don't know. (I couldn't even read it from where I was sitting which means the camera has better eyesight than I do.)

This was not discussed. Could go either way, but I expect he's not part of the set as there are other minis in the starter that clearly aren't part of the set either.

I agree, the scale issue is a big distraction for me. Unless they borrowed the sculpture from something else, I wouldn't think it would be that hard for them to get it right.

Another interesting note:
Ahsoka is mini #2, which means that there is a mini before her. There are two possibilties that i can think of that would come before Ah - Aerial something trooper or the long awaited for and more likely - Aayla Secura, Jedi Master!
