Less than twenty-four hours until the start of the Nexus SWM tournament!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a vending machine or stand close-by that we can buy water and pop from?
Yes there is, they will have a consession stand, and not to mention all of downtown Lincolns restaraunts
Walgrens is also down the block, so food and snacks will be readily available.
Does anyone else feel like this is similiar to cramming for a final? My friend and I are racking our brains for squads to run because I know we are going to see squads similiar to the New years eve tourney. This feels like a regional or something. Cant wait!
see you at noon I'm bringing shenanagans
and mabee after the games we could
I have to say, just so my title doesn't confuse, Iron, Scrffy, and klecser you All, ROCKED MY FACE!! (that's a good thing). Scruffy, the detail of your 3D board, senario, and piesewise removable rooms were incredible! klecser, you sir dazzled me with your tacktics in such a way that I may never recover (not sure if I want to). And Iron, what can I say. . . Iron, Your secret prize blew me away, Now everyone will know what Dread should come their way if ever my bones are crossed. Yarrr. . . my personalized comemerative garb be savin' tha flava upin 'ere! (awesome!) Thanks to everyone, I hope I get to face the other members-of-the-board mini-combat soon as those were some of the best skirmishes I've ever had. *(klecser you live up to your reputation) I'm horable with names, I know I faced a few others that post here, I very much enjoyed all of my matchups, but as i only had 3.5hrs sleep, my memory is a bit shakey. sorry
I can't wait until next tourney!edit: oops, I forgot to say, I have mixed feelings because I didn't get to stay until the end of the senario (work; left @25 after 10) -Wish I could have stayed longer; I can't wait to see the breakdown when Iron posts the pics here! I'm still sweating from where we were when I left.
After you left, we pretty much cleaned house. Were you there when we opened the door to find a 70 point Greivous? Haha...We put ARCs in front to eat all the damage, then the jedi just walked up, opened the final room, where we found a BDC, 2 Destroyers, and Poggle, along with 1 more Super. Needless to say, we mopped the floor and finished it. Then we all got our cool shirts. :D We took pictures after words of everyone, shame you wernt there for the final picture, but your contibutions will be remembered!
Haha... I can wait to see the pics, the 3d terrain rocked, especially the explosions!
I'm planning to make an appearence at HTN sunday (today) and I'll be wearing my shirt. I'd like to see everyone else' so it would be cool if you could all wear them. (I p/b won't be playing as I'm exhausted now, but I'll be there for a short time.)
Thanks to Every one that Played in the Tournament.
19 People showed up to Play Star Wars Minis. 19 people, WoW. And a THANK YOU to all of you that Participated in the "SPECIAL SCENARIO"
I'm still dying to know how it all works. It sounds like something that would be a ton of fun to run with my friends...
scruffy and and ironlightsaber really put their hearts into this and it showed. ironlightsaber is super busy for a whole host of reasons, but I hope he gets the pictures up when he can so we can share our experience with the official boards. We are a hot point of SWM in this country and we have the events to prove it. STURGIS. Enough said.
As the evil side of the scenario, I had a lot of fun destroying the BMFG and "baiting" my side in closer to get a few last kills in before you wiped me out. Great to see so many boards members there! I know we were all super ashamed to only know each other by our handles! Ironlightsaber will post a full list of boards members present but it was like over a dozen regular posters! ![]() hothie: Thanks for coming all the way from Des Moines! DPR: Thanks for the compliments. I had a bunch of wonderful games in the tournament. It was an AWESOME tournament. It always is when all the local talent shows up, and there were A LOT of good players there. That's why our tournament was marked as "advanced" instead of "beginning" :evillaugh All of my games were tough games. My squad: Aurra Sing CS Yoda Boba Fett Captain Typho Naboo Soldier Med Droid Ishi Tib R2 Astro We call it the Squad of Doom around here, and it has been discussed on the boards extensively for its re-roll potential. Ironlightsaber played a similar variant with more bodyguards. I breezed through the first round. I played versus a guy that plays with his son. He is a great guy, super good sport, and he is teaching his son how to play games respectfully. Great group to play against. He had Vader JH, Empy SL, other stuff, Jawas. My accurate shot and lockout ability were too much for them on the hard back map. To be fair, he forgot about deflect some of the time and he doesn't play a lot of tournaments. He also rolled really poorly. I made sure to remind him to use it after our game ![]() My next two games were pretty tough. I beat out ironlightsaber by just a few points with time running out. He basically had the same squad as me but traded out Boba for another Ishi Yib, more Naboo soldiers, and Captain Antilles. I moved to engage him immediately because you can't dawdle against this "camp" squad. It was a brutal match, but well fought. It is tough to play good friends in high stakes tournaments, but it was exactly how I wanted the match to go between us. Time ended with his full health Yoda, wounded Antilles and something else versus my full health boba, R2 and a slightly damaged Aurra. I think if we played it out I could have won. Ironlightsaber disagrees , but it was still a great match. Ironlightsaber took 2nd place in the tourney though! Next match was against Dread Pirate Roberts. With Aurra as his only accurate shooter and with an early shot on R2, I controlled the pace most of the game. He moved Quinlan into a crowd of my figs with R2. I cancelled one lightsaber sweep with Yoda, his second he pulled off but hit NONE of my figs due to the bodyguard/Med Droid combo. Quinlan fell shortly after, as did R2 and I was able to lock a door to make his other peices come around the room on the junkyard map to engage me. That delay was enough for me to turn the tide completely in my favor. At time, he had Aurra and Tarfful left versus my full Boba, heavily wounded (but adjacent to a hidden med droid) Aurra and R2. Finally, I played sithdragon13 for the tournament win. He wiped the board with me. He played: ROTS Mace, ROTS Yoda, Tarrful, and a crap ton of Wookiee Commando bodyguards. He had more bodyguards than me and immediately had the advantage. He moved up out of LOS on the Bespin map and we engaged in close quarters. In prior games, I was wary that I was not doing enough damage quick enough with my squad. Attempting to compensate for that sealed my doom as I towed Yoda out too early, got R2 killed, and then got Yoda killed. I was lucky it didn't end quicker because he missed a lot of rolls against my Yoda with Yoda and Mace in the beginning (imagine missing like six times with those figs and rerolling over half of them and having the REROLLS be misses as well! ) In the end game, Boba missed Yoda about five times, sealing my doom. At that point, I lost my concentration and my gimmick squad fell apart. sithdragon took the tourney! Congratulations! :DThe top placers in this tournament (can't remember all places but 1, 2 and me (5) ) all were heavy on bodyguards. Few of the top squads included Thrawn or Vipers or Vader JH, but all of those were present. So I went 3-1 and only placed fifth. No prizes . As stated above, I couldn't do enough damage with my squad versus these excellent opponents to garner enough points. I learned something about playing a squad like this as I never had before. Still, placing fifth in a field of 19 excellent players is good. ![]() Prizes were great. "IOU"s were issued for COTF boosters!!!!! 1st: 4 boosters, 2nd: 3, 3rd: 2, 4th: 1. Even though I didn't win any boosters, I'm still happy that ironlightsaber got some. We open our cases together (five) in a giant draft and since he will be getting at least three boosters ahead of time, that opens up the possibility of me being able to pick something I need that he already has. Great experience. I want to be more involved in the planning of the next one since we keep proving what a great local SWM community we have. Thanks all! :D
That scenario was AWSOME!!!! A 13 kill strafe was the best move I may have seen yet. My clones were basically the banzai commandos in that game claiming many casualties. I officially hate that
Poggle. He critted my Shaak twice. :headexplo The tourney was nice. Although I won only one I think most of them were close. I played Dumbbell, Admiral Palleon (Jim), Ironlightsaber, and Hothie. Hothie had those darn droideka that soaked up more damage than total HP in his squad. Iron had that wicked combo that was well executed. Jim had his Jh and Sl limping in the end but I screwed up my overrides. Dumbbell I did beat. He played a...I can't remember. Anyways infinite kudos on the 3d terrain and you all kept the supprises comin'. Nice customs.EDIT: Dumbbell played a nom bomb squad that dealt some mean damage. My squad was ROTS Mace, Obi Jm, Luminara, Anakin knight, Stass and an ewok. Can't wait for the pics and good times everyone. I am sure the overall felling is :OMG!
First of all, MEGA, MEGA bowing-down-on-my-knees
kudos and appreciation to Ironlightsaber, Scruffy, and Klecser for all of the time and energy they put into making this scenario the event that it was. Thank you also for my fellow Jedi (moment of silence for Shaak Ti ). I think we had a good mix of chiefs and indians playing, but we all were included on the strategy and playing.A quick synapsis of the event: 9 Jedi, each with a few special clones and 6 regular clones, landed on one side of the board (you can see the map on page 1 of this thread.) We had to get through 4 Hailfires, 4 Dwarfs, 2 STAPs, 2 Orrays, numerous Battle Droids and SBD's, and oh yeah, the SWEETEST Durge on Speeder Bike in the WORLD (thank you Ironlightsaber, the check is in the mail so you can start on mine. :D ) The regular clones took a few casualties, although I believe it was less than 15 total out of the at least 55. After getting to the door of the facility, 5 Jedi were needed (each rolling a 7 or higher simultaneously) to open the Main door, and 4 Jedi were needed to open the secondary door. Once the main door was open, the slaughter house ensued. Numerous BD's, SBD's, Geonosians, and a few Droidekas met the clones in a bloody firefight. The _move_of_the_event_ was Jim strafing with his BARC, and single-handedly taking out 13 enemies, mostly SBD's in ONE TURN!!!!!! That die has now been taken to the Smithsonian and put under lock and key with a 24 hour guard. A souped up (and MUCH more movie/Clone Wars accurate) Grievous, Hunter of Jedi met the Republic, although great strategy kept him couped up in a room while the rest of the Jedi went to rescue Yoda and Mace (the goal of the event) and took care of business within the rest of the facility. Once the door to the Holding chamber was open, it was all Jedi to the front, beating down the door, taking out the Destroyers (and another kick-butt custom Poggle the Lesser). They each wanted to earn brownie points for being the one to rescue their masters, although as we all know, they never would have been rescued if Jim's clone hadn't stayed behind to man the BMFG while everyone else stormed the facility. ![]() I would be remiss if I didn't mention the other custom that came into play for the scenario: the Clone Wars Obi-wan on Speeder Bike. Ironlightsaber should definitely be a professional (you listening Wizards?) with the kind of time and detail that he puts into his customs. I'd have to say that ranks with the Clone-mounted Yoda as being my 1 and 1A favorite customs that I've seen. It was certainly a one-of-kind event. I got home around 2, and got up at 7:30 this morning to get ready for my Star Wars party today. Thank you again to the organizers and participants, and I'm looking forward to what you're going to do in November, with 2 more sets at your disposal. Count me in for attending the Sturgis of SWM again. See you then!
First of all thank you to everyone who helped to organize this event.
. It was one of the best Star Wars experiences that I have ever had (comparable to watching ANH for the first time). It was amazing, and I had alot of fun. Did somebody say something earlier about it being bi-annual? If so, then when is the next one?PS-- Did anybody find a shiney red d20 after I left. I was in a hurry to get out as soon as it was over, because my mom kept calling my cell phone and yelling at me to hurry up, I went as fast as possible for fear of my life, and forgot my dice. I do, however, think that I got all of my pieces.
The way you guys talk about this scenario you gotta get some pic's and explanations up.
Explanations will be better once Ironlightsaber posts the pics but it was basically a massive fire fight with much death, fire, backround music, and sound effects.
I will get my pics up as soon as I get onto Photobucket, which will hopefully be within the week.
Thank you to everyone for showing up and making this event such a success. For those of you who traveled a special thank youI'm sorry the the Special Event ended so late but I figure that it is better than having it run way too short.
We found your die and I'll see that it gets back to you and I hope you did not get in trouble for playing late. Did somebody else forget something? PM me or Scruffy and tell us what it was and we'll get it back to you. Here's some picture of the near 20 players of the tournament. Thank you to the event organizers for the great prize support. If you played in the tournament please post your squad up and if you placed let us know which position. I ran: Yoda (CS) Sing R2 (ROTS) Capt. Antilles Capt. Typho 4 Naboo Soliders 2 Ishi Tibs Med Droid Placed 2nd and had 4 great matches. ![]() ![]()
There's a bunch of pics of this so I'm breaking them up in to groups. I'll post the stat card sheets up later so people can use them in their own games. The numbers are for reference if you want to use them in your post.

What obi-wan is thinking in the last pic:
1.Hurry up guys!!!!!! and.... 2.Oh
PIC 26:
OB1 opens that door and says: "Holy !" :DEdit: :heehee 66surviver beat me to it! Pic 6: I'm the guy in the green shirt on the left side. scruffy_nerf_hearder is the guy in the brown, on the right side, leaning into the scenario. Pic 15: Left to right: Dread_Pirate _Roberts, 66surviver, ilikeyoda (concealed), dumbbell(bunch of numbers) (head down), hothie, sithdragon13 (tourney winner!), scourgeofthenewrepublic (face only in frame)
And just in case I forgot curse that darn poggle for a double crit!!!! I had only 2 ARCs left after the scenario but I think my guys finished both of our sides hailfires and a dwarf plus bd's and sbd's. shaak killed two in the final room before that cursed crit. Our side (dumbbell, dread pirate, ilikeyoda and myself) had the least people lost a BMFG and 6 clones before blowing the doors but we did all that fast and we captured the seps. Huzah bonzai commandos (my guys' names from now on) and the rest(except Jims little chicken clone)! More kudos to the setter upers of that scenario. It was SWEET!!!!!!!
I was ahead of Shaak
I was the third person to bring in the back up ![]()
That looks like a freakin' BLAST. Alas there is nothing quite that cool in Pittsburgh. Not exactly the collectable or RPG capital of the world. But we're the nations hot spot for Trouble and the pop-o-matic bubble.
Ironlightsaber,
Those pics turned out great. Hothie, Are you going to post yours? Scruffy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Where's our group photo? Anyone have that to post yet? Gotta show off the shirts!
Edit: Forgot about squad posts. Mine was: Master Windu Master Yoda R2 Tarfful x4 Wookiee Commandos Of the four rounds, my first was the closest pointwise. I gave up all but Yoda, Tarfful and 1 commando. The last three games I only gave up 18, 0, and 18 pts. Klecser's match was the most frustrating for me, though. As he said Yoda missed 8/10 attacks. At that point i pretty much quit counting on him to hit anything. I also made the mistake of going for a whirlwind adn had it canceled by his Yoda. That hurt. It helped that his Fett really didnt want to fight that game either. Yoda and Fett wanted to go home for a beer i think. Yet my wookiees hit almost everythign even when rolling for +15s! Love them wookiees! ![]() There...just follow the photo link and next time you could just find the group photo! :P Our side was cool... My clones are in pic 14 They look like they are wearing capes Haha, yes, paper and tape capes! My only game I won against Dumbell in the battle of the losers! Haha, it came down to pretty much the init roll too!
Good job Fish.
![]() I think I might have thought of what to do for the next one
Hey Iron...you dont have any legos do you? I want to build a 3d Lego land that we could play a SWMB in
I think itd be really fun and funny.
Its not our fault you guys charged head first why we actually thought out what to do
We were very strategic taking good shots, and knocking them off, while covering as much as possible...Playing against Scruffy didnt hurt us much either :P
It didnt help our cause that we couldnt get that first blasted Hailfire down. We couldnt roll worth a crap.
And onthe our side versus your side going.........our side had THE best move of the game. Jim's last clone may have been doggin' it to the fight, but that strafe run killing 13 out of 16 targets was awesome! MVP right there. Runner up goes to Scourge (Sen~ior psycopath in the lower left). My ARC helped the start, but it was his Ki-Adi and ARCs that took on Super Grievous and his bodyguards and walked away from it! BTW, has Ki-Adi gimped up to the door yet? :D
Outstanding pics, Ironlightsaber. Like i said earlier, I'll get my pics up soon, I hope. For those who weren't there, the Clone Wars Obi-wan can be seen in pics 23 and 24, and no, the event was not sponsored by any major fast food chains (unintentional product placements in pics 1, 2, and 3.)
Another idea for the November Nexus: RESCUE JIM'S CLONE (Well, Jim's clone trooper, I mean. No one would actually want to save a clone of Jim.) On a very succesful mission to rescue Jedi Masters Yoda and Mace Windu, one wayward clone trooper didn't get the memo that the battle was long over and all other troops had been extracted and redeployed. He was thought to be among the casualties, and when his body wasn't discovered, he was listed as MIA. But one Kaminoan Ascetic knows otherwise. He has captured Jim's clone trooper, DMFC-9172 named "Hut'uun", and is holding him hostage on the world of Procrastine. An army of ewoks and Polis Massa medics has been dispatched to retrieve this most valuable Republic asset.
I might or might not be unbiased, however here are my choices for MVP of the Special Event:
1. Admiral Pelleon He sacrificed his Barc for us and wiped out 11-13 SB Droids in one strafe. The move right before that was to put his Barc in position for the strafe and we hoped for init. His position opened up the larger interior room which opened up all the doors in that room. By making this move, we were able to have a straighter shot at taking out the commanders that had the ability to produce more reserves every turn. 2. Sithdragon He made all the right decisions when it came to running Obi-Wan on Barc speeder. He saved himself for the final strafe on the walkway before disembarking. Great leadership helping me save Kit Fisto. 3. myself and Scourgeofthenewrepublic I believe that I was the only person to choose a Clone Trooper Sgt. Once we got inside the complex, there was large droid bombardment. Luckily, most of us still had clones left for fodder until our Jedi and ARC's were in a better position. As my side pushed towards the commanders with reserves, (along with Admiral Pelleon's jedi?) the Sgt helped crit away the last commander. Scourge was plugging up the doorway where General Grievous was coming from. He had two ARCs blocking the doorway and his Jedi right beside. I came back to his position with my Sgt and Kit to help finish off Grievous. Scourge rolled two straight 19's to finish off Grievous. This was such a great time. Thank you Ironlightsaber for the T-shirts. A very unexpected gift.
Don't forget about my clones. They did 100 Damage to Durge in one turn. Not one of them missed an attack against him.
Next time the "Draste Dirty Dozen" are together I would like to get a group picture with everyone who was involved in the Special Event (that's why I didn't post up that group shot to begin with). Possibly at the next Nexus.....
Dumbbell, you have the red die? Can you get it to ILikeYoda? Thanks. Scruffy still has something that someone forgot at the convention. If you think it's yours just PM him with what it is and he'll get it back to you. Jim had the play of the game with that BARC move in my view (if only I would have killed that BARC with the destroyer!!!) but it's hard to say if there would be one MVP. I think you all did well together and everyone was playing to protect everyone on their side. Soon I'll be posting up the Special Event player information and rules that we used as well as links to the stat card sheets so that everyone on the board can use them. Maybe a map maker on the boards would be interested in recreating Scruffy's 3D models of the base and refinary components into 2D form. I'll also post the back of the shirts on the boards so everyone can see the logos I made of the particapant's board names. I'd like to thank Klecser for helping to test the custom stats and helping to play the Separtists during the event and I'd like to thank Nimzomitch for helping to test the custom stats and for letting us use his Clone Strike starter map. And to all of the players--thanks for the kind words, it makes the time and effort that Scruffy and I put into this well worth it. Nebraska IS the place for SWM!!!!!
outstanding game guys it was abit long at the end but it was just friggen sweet I thought Ki Adi was done for when I blocked Greivos in the roomwith Ki Adi and my Arc Troopers but I came back upstairs from my smoke break expecting my jedi and arcs to be dead and then I saw what I am going to refer to as General G's enima ( how else could I put it 12 clones, 2 arcs, Clone commander, Kit Fisto and Clone sgt ) backing me up that was just Awsome.
the mass strafe that Palleon pulled off was just friggin sweet every ones CE's working to full potential great game to The Dirty Dozen of Nexus Rescue the Masters PS. If anybody is interested I drew first Blood on Durge with an Arc trooper and first Blood on General G with an AoE from Ki Adi And finished General G in this order Arc trooper Crit Ki Adi attack then Ki Adi CE to the other Arc to Crit but the tourny I did terible Dont even Know what I placed
Ironlightsaber just got me the design on the back of our T-shirts for the desktop. If any of you guys want the pic for your computer email me and i will send it to you. :D
I'm sort of against the idea of an MVP, because, as I said earlier, we had a good mix of chiefs and indians there. I mean, we all could have been trying to control everybody, and I think it would have taken even longer because of all of the differing opinions. With 9 Jedi players, there are 9 ways of doing the scenario. And those would be even different than the run-throughs that Scruffy and Iron did. We'd probably still be beating our heads against each other trying to be the "Most Valuable." I was happy to stay back, let others take control of the board, and do as I was told, as long as I had the big picture of the battle. I understood the strategy that was being used, chimed in every once in a while if I thought I could help, and let the leaders lead. Does that make the indians' contributions any less valuable? There were some notable accomplishments, Jim's BARC, Sith's Obi on Speeder, and Scourge's blocking Grievous among them, but the mission would not have been a success (or maybe as successful) if all players hadn't contributed. I'm happy we all got some sweet shirts, and I'm actually happier that there wasn't an MVP. Yin yang, people, we need leaders and followers to be successful.
Well you asked for it, Here are the official placing in the 200 point tournament before the Scenario.
1st SITH DRAGON 2nd IRONLIGHTSABER 3rd TOM S 4th ANTHONY 5th JON B 6th KLESCER 7th COLBY 8th JIM 9th MATT 10th DARTH MAGUS III 11th I LIKE YODA 12th HOTHIE 13th MIKE (& JACEN) 14th SCRUFFY 15th SCOURGE OF THE NEW REPUBLIC 16th AUSTIN 17th DA MEGA FISH 18th DUMBELL 19th RYAN B Congrats to every body, for making this a SUCCESS. SEE YA"LL NEXT TIME. SCRUFFY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to agree with Hothie in that there wasn't a MVP and that there shouldn't be one. His points on leaders and the support is well made.
Scruffy and I debated how we would give away a prize for first place for this scenario. Would first place be the first person to get to the masters? or the person who defeated the last enemy? or the person who defeated the toughest boss (GG Hunter of Jedi)? and so on and so forth. We decided that if we had only one prize that we would award it to the best sportsman who would have been picked by the other players. As the time got closer to the event Scruffy was putting all his effort into finishing the base and he didn't have time to devote to a single fig as a prize, so I figured that the t-shirts for everyone would make a good prize.
16th place huzzah!
The team as a whole was awsome. I may not have done anything memorable even though shaak sacrificed herself but my guys went in first outside and I think got in the kill shots on the hailfires and dwarf. Everyone contributed without that 6 clone force jedi and other troops the battle would have been very ugly(or more ugly if you look at it that way)
Well this is Jim,
my squad palp, sith lord 62 vader, jedi hunter 75 thrawn 37 2x twilek bodyguards 20 stormtrooper 5 total 199 I think the idea of an mvp would be a cool idea because you know everyone keeps pointing out my barc strafe and im greedy and want something. and that lone trooper did make it in and did take a shot on grievous hunter of jedi. of course he missed but you know he was there and thats all that matters. but everyone did a great job and there were some tremendous moments from everybody. scourge taking on grievous by himself was just awesome. Im not a huge tourny player but that was some of the most fun playing people i have ever had. I like yodas padme bodygaurd squad tore me up cause i was stupid with thrawn. then there was scruffy who i really screwed over on map but still put up a fight. Mike and Jacen put up a great fight with a pretty much duplicate squad and with each of us having a betrayel it was a great game. 66 survivor we danced around each other for a while and finally faced each other and i was able to pull out the victory in the end. That was some of the best games i have ever played. The scenario was expletive, expletive, expletive, amazing and the thing that made it awsome was after my barc blew up and cloud of smoke and fire was put in its stead, that was awsome. It was a blast and thanks to everyone for makeing it memorable (i promised myself i wouldn't cry) ...... choked back that tear. finally was that trooper really stupid he lived and if hailfires had come in from the back you all would of been begging me to fire that BMFG. thank you all again. p.s. cool i got eighth place sweeeeeeeeeet!!!
Come on Jim! One clone? One clone? If they brought people in the back, you would have just got shot right away anyway. :P [sarcasm]"Woah! Look at that blue Clone! He just took down two Hailfires and 10 battle droids on his own! And he didnt even get shot!"[/sarcasm] Just messing though!
I came in 12th, and I was 2-2. Good tournament, with amazing squads. I can't wait to see what squads we will have with COTF and BH soon.
Da Fish has a point, senor.
We're just kiddin, Jim! We couldn't have done it without ya. Although, I guess you were trying to prove it by leaving "Hut'uun" behind. :D
BTW- To make the print on your shirt last longer-wash the shirt inside out in warm (not hot) water and tumble dry on warm setting.
Also, I can not sell those shirts because they have copyrighted stuff on it. They were hand-made as gifts for only the people who played in the Special Event. As always all registered trademarks are the property of LFL and WOTC and other companies. All my stuff is fan art, made by a fan for my fellow fans at no charge.
I was thinking today about the next Nexus. If you make t-shirts for the next one, might I suggest doing a Harley Davidson style logo, with something to the effect of Nexus being the Sturgis of SWM. Perhaps you could do something that wouldn't infringe on any copyright laws, although I have no idea what we could get away with. I would be willing to pre-order a shirt to help with the costs.
And now a note from the "Who Cares?" file: I wore my t-shirt all day Sunday for my SW party. I plan on proudly wearing it often, since it is the only article of clothing I own besides my Death Star Independent Contractor costume that has my handle on it. Thank you Ironlightsaber.
For those interested here is the information that was sent to players along with the house rules that were used in running the event. The PM with the info that I sent to all the players had specifics as to their squads which I have removed. Also not all the house rules were used. The Jedi Trance Healing wasn't used because the players did so well in the opening battle that it wasn't needed.
If you want to play this with your own group use a blank side of a starter map with some tiles to represent the refinery equipment and the Death Star map for the base. Have the hanger area overlap one square on the blankside map and use the detention area for the prisons holding Yoda and Mace. Use a small slip of paper to indicate a 5 square door going into the Hanger area and a 2 square piece to enter the other room. If you are wondering how in the world Yoda and Mace could have both been captured it's easy. They were tricked into investigating a false report on Grievous and when they arrived on the planet Dooku threaten to kill the planets inhabitants with his droid hordes unless they gave up. It was no bluff and being Jedi Yoda and Mace willing gave themselves over in order to save the inhabitants. They knew that they could count on their Jedi brothers and sister to attempt a rescue. ![]() I will hopefully post the image of the t-shirt back and links to the custom stat cards very soon. ----- Here's the pre-game player info: First, players squads consist of the 60 points of a Jedi and clone troops along with six regular Clone Troopers. This gives each player a total of 114 points per squad. Second, with everyone playing clones it might be confusing as to which clones are yours when the game gets well under way. To make it easier you can do a couple of things-- 1) You can paint your clones to set them apart (which looks cool and you can use any regular clonetrooper and just a dab of paint to do it) or 2) Cut up a sticker and put it on the top of the fig's base where it can be seen (it be best if you used the same clone to help keep track of them) or 3) At the very least, use all the same clone Third, everyone will set up in the order of who picked first. The first person will set up on the far left corner of the map and the next person will set up next to them and so on until every one is set up. Fourth, to help everyone know which pieces have been moved we will be facing all pieces. At the start of the skirmish they will all be facing one direction and as you move each fig simply face them in the opposite direction. Fifth, everyone plays their own squad but that does not mean you can not work together. In fact, if you don't work together you will most likely not finish the scenario. Communication between everyone will definitely be to your advantage. When it applies you can benefit from the Commander Effects and Special Abilities of your teammate pieces. Be sure to check the abilities of the other players figs and see how they effect your pieces. You can also combine fire with each other. If they agree, you can have your teammates units combine fire with your pieces but you must ask them first. All other rules for combine fire are still in effect for this scenario. When it is time to roll initiative you will take turns rolling or select one person to do all the rolling. When it is your turn you activate two figs like normal. Then the Seps will active two pieces and then it goes to the next player on your side. It will go back and forth between the two sides until it gets back to you. If during a turn you have only one fig to activate then the second activation goes to the next player on your side. ----- Rules for running "Rescue the Masters": ***These rules were for use with 3D terrain. Make adjustments for your own game. See picture for placement of ray sheilds (string painted blue). The doors leading into the base had to be force lifted. The door to the room with Grievous only opened when all droids in the Sep. Leaders room were destroyed. The Sep leaders did not fight and gave up as soon as all droids in their room as defeated. The door to the masters only opened after Grievous was defeated.*** Lucky Pick Obi Wan is the Lucky Pick fig. If the person playing Obi-Wan wants they can start the game as Obi on Speeder instead of CS/ROTS Obi. The player starts on the speeder and can get off the bike at anytime. Once off the bike they can not get back on and their character reverts to which ever Obi-Wan they orginally planned to play (the bike fig is removed from the game and Obi is placed in the center square that the bike occupied. When getting off the speeder the character's Hit Point level stays the same but all other stats change to which ever Obi they are playing. If they play the Obi-Wan on speeder then no one on their squad can use the BMFG-9772. Use a BARC to represent Obi on Speeder. BMFG-9772 Only the two squares adjacent to the gun controls (the black space) are usable to control the gun. Only one person per squad can use the gun at a time. The gun replaces the character's attack but not turn. It is possible for two different characters on the same squad to use the gun in the same round (shoot/move-move shoot). Gun can rotate 360 degrees. Ray Shields You can not fire through a ray shield but you can walk through it unhindered with the exception of the middle ray shield. The middle ray shield is different in that it is not passable until it becomes weaker--at that point it acts like all other ray shields. Commander Effects are not hindered by ray shields. There are ray shields in the doorways that lead from the inside to the outside as well that prevent anyone from shooting from the inside to the outside and vice versa. The middle Ray shield is passable after the second round. 3D terrain The outside line of a square containing a piece of 3d terrain is considered the wall, not the 3D terrain itself. If a square contains more than 50% of difficult terrain, then it is considered difficult terrain. If it is not possible to tell if a character has line of sight to an enemy then a judge will make a ruling that is final. Jedi Force Heal Recovery One time during the battle players will be allowed to heal their Jedi. If a Jedi is at 0 Hit Points then it is brought up to half of it's health (to the nearest 10) but does not recover any Force Points that have been spent. The jedi is place anywhere one square behind the fig furthest from the stronghold. If a Jedi is wounded they can roll a 20 sided dice. If they roll 11 or hight they get back half of their missing Hit Points round up to the nearest 10. If they fail their roll they recover up to half their health rounded up to the nearest 10. They do not recover any Force Points. Jedi Force Lift Some doors can only be opened by the force. The large door out side requires 5 Jedi working together, the smaller door outside needs 4 and the inside door needs 3 to open . All players roll a 20 sided die. They all need to roll a 7 or higher at the same time in order to open the door. One a door is Foce opened it can not be closed. Ledges Only character on the squares on the edge of a platform can shoot and be shot at. They do get +4 Defence for cover. Flying charactes can move from ledges to lower floors and back without hinderance. Stat Card Sheets All players will recieve a Stat Card Sheet at the beginning of the game before the first initiative roll with stats for Obi on Speeder, Durge on Speeder, the BMFG 9772 and Skakoan Engineers. When Grievious is revealed a second Stat Cart Sheet with his and Poggles stats will be passed out. Players will be given a few minutes to read over the stats at that time. First Round Information Players go in the order of how they signed up and set up for the first round of play(1-5 on one side/6-9 on the other). In all other rounds they can pick the order in which they go but have to stay in that order for the rest of the round until the next initative. The Skakoan Engineers do not roll for reinforcements in the first round. Poogle's reinforcement ability is not used in this scenario. ----- These rules can be used how you feel works best. I didn't play in the event but just judged it to make sure that the game ran smoothly and you might find that helps as well. If you do try this scenario out let everyone on this thread know how it goes.
Just remembered a couple of my favorite lines from that event:
After a failed rienforcements klescer said "Nerf wrench in the works." Instant Classic I tell ya And the celebratory crie "huzzah!" Due to sleep depravation (or outright insanity) that was a crazy event.
Here's the cards used for the custom villains and other things in the scenario and the back of the shirt. The logos of our board handles was printed on the left chest.
Nexus-"Rescue The Masters" 1 Front Nexus-"Rescue The Masters" 1 Back Nexus-"Rescue the Masters" 2 Front Nexus-"Rescue The Masters" 2 Back The first set of cards have Obi on Speeder and Durge on Speeder. They are both 45 points and make for a nice one-on-one battle. Grievous and Poggle are on the second page. Now before you post that Grievous is too powerful try him out. He's made to kick ***** but he can be taken down, just ask scourgeofthenewrepublic. He's based on Grievous as he is in the Clone Wars cartoon and yes he has Jedi Hunter. Poggle is a real fun piece that makes the bugs put up a real fight. Play a 100 point bug swarm army against a couple of Republic Jedi and clones and see who wins. Here's the art to the back of the shirts the Scruffy and I gave out to all the players and to Klecser for helping out during the game. ![]() ![]() That's it!! That's all the stuff from the first Nexus Star Wars Miniatures Special Event!!! I'm starting to talk with Scruffy about the next one now that we have the first one under our belts. We're looking at having more players and a more active individual experience along the same group effort play that we worked hard to achieve with this one. Nebraska-THE HOME OF SWM!!!!!!!
BTW, Ironlightsaber, what materials did you use to make the 3D terrain in the scenario? I've been looking around for stuff but havent been able to find anything that will work too well.
Thanks for the list of stuff nerf, sorry, I did'nt know that you were the one who made it. I am going to try to make some 3D terrain, and that list really helped. Thanks a lot! :D :D :D
