Thanks, I got the PDF file and read up on it. Are any players REALLY forming Adventure Companies?

Yup. It particularly makes sense if you've got a group of players who are going to frequently be playing together, using the same characters.
"Of course [Richard] has a knife. He always has a knife. We all have knives. It's 1183, and we're barbarians!" - Eleanor of Aquitaine, "The Lion in Winter"

Yeah, best for a home or regular group.
They do not work all that well if you mostly play at conventions with a good size player attendance.
The "one character per player" restriction is a pain in the butt and I have yet to hear a good reason for the existance of that restriction.

The one character per AdCo is annoying. I was just invited to a company this past weekend that would have been perfect for my character ... except that I was the one who started the AdCo with another character.

Simple. I would expect someone was afraid that the first (and last) adventuring company created would be "Adventurer's Local 501", which 98% of the characters in the campaign would join, rendering irrelevant the entire concept except as a source of an extra action point.
Dealing with the real problem (that adventuring companies are essentially irrelevant except as a source of an extra action point) would have required substantially more effort.
I'm not at all sure I could explain what the point of the adventuring company system is, but I'm pretty skeptical, whatever it might be, that the system is actually accomplishing it.

Not sure I believe that. But even if it was 50% of all characters, would that matter? In my old region in LG, a very large number of the PCs were in the same meta-org. It didn't break anything.

Agreed. I know what I liked about the old LG meta-orgs and most of those things are not even remotely exhibited in the AdCo system. And I have no "fear" about LFR ever actually re-creating something like them.
