I've been a DM in several stores around the country, and while Pandemonium in Boston has a pretty decent system (as said by several folks in this thread already), most stores I "work" in for any length of time seem to be keen on providing discounts and complimentary drinks/ snacks for me.

My current store on Michigan State University campus is giving me RPG supplies at cost with a drink and snack of my choice during the game slot.  Woot!

At Rivals (in Oregon) the DM's get $4 store credit per session (fwiw: the store also sells food to the gamers). I personally would do it for free since I discovered I enjoy running even more than playing, but it's nice to feel appreciated.

I love DMing at Pandy myself, and the incentive is great simply because it allows reinvestment into the game for running more LFR. I'm really going to miss not being there this semester (providing transportation for someone on monday nights) but I look forward to getting more involved come summer. I think it is very little to ask (in order to play) and I'm willing to pay to play as much as I am to run.

I DM fairly regularly at a local gameday.  The store has a fairly large, well-maintained play area, and D&D (mostly RPGA) has the run of the place one Saturday each month.  We run 3 rounds of games, similar to a day at most cons.

Anyone who volunteers to DM a game has dibs and gets to sign up "ahead of the crowds" for games in the other two timeslots.  At our upcoming gameday there are currently 14 DMs signed up to run 17 total tables.  This is down slightly from the peak in the early months of LFR, but is holding fairly steady recently.

There is no charge for the players.

The store seems to do fine with all their sales of books, minis, and beverages.

I DM regularly at two game days, one of which is the same place as the poster above me.

At the other store DMs are volunteers and do not have to purchase a box of mini's or some item from the store, which is a requirement as to support the store. Most of my gaming is done in that store so unless it is a mod I want to play with a certain character, I gladly DM an extra table or two.

All for the price of a couple tall cans, that is.  kuk ku ku kuu

In West LA, we've got a stranger situation.

We've got a group of about 20 players in a five-mile radius. Open that up to 10 miles, and the group increases to about 50.

The nearest store, however is five miles away, can do 3 tables max, and has to compete with M:tG, Warhammer, a club that does historical battle recreations and board games. Beyond that stores are 15, and 25 miles away with their own regulars and communities. Basically, there's way more demand for LFR than there is space.

As a result, we're all private-play games, and host 5-6 tables weekly in various members' homes. As you can imagine, I was pretty disappointed to hear about the new public-play focus.

But on topic: we have a harder time finding PC leaders than DMs.

Yes, I know what store you are talking about as I live in that 10-15 mile radius. Although my locales' situation is lack of newer players willing to step-up to DM. It's very annoying, really. So far I have heard every excuse to try to get out of running a mod and giving the regular DMs a chance to game. Like a rotation of DMs.
