Hey all,
Is there a feat or spell path allowing wizards to turn 'touch' spells into 'short' range spells, like Hierophants can? My friend would like his wizard to be able to use Chain on spells like Heroism.
Thanks!

The easiest non-ETV way to do that is to take 3 levels of War Weaver.

War Weaver still requires touching the target of touch spells, which can only be allies, by the way. War Weaver is nonc, so it requires access, too.

What you want is probably the metamagic feat Reach Spell from Complete Divine. I believe that this feat is Open.

reach spell allows you to use touch spells at range. that deosn't mean they now qualify for the chain feat...

best bet is Warweaver.

Thanks everyone!
Unfortunately he doesn't have access to War Weaver, so I guess he's out of luck.

A high-end version of the reach spell feat is the archmage power, which from memory is called the same thing. Note that none of these actually allow you to use chain spell on a touch spell.

That was the debate, whether anything *would* allow touch spells to be converted to 'short' and thus able to be chained.
I'm not sure how useful Chain spell is since most of the really good spells a caster would want to Chain are touch.

The usual suspects are:

Greater Magic Weapon
Dispel Magic
Delay Death
Dismissal
Nerveskitter

I've seen a few other things chained, but the above are by far the most common. Chained Baleful Polymorph is rather amusing, too ;-)

Greater Dispel Magic (most likely off of a rod if it's being done in LG) is also a popular target for Chain Spell.

As to Chaining touch spells, I think 5th level war-weaver basically does this (Enlarged Tapestry is the ability, if I remember correctly). Sadly, I don't have HoB on my laptop, and I'm not with my books at the moment, so I cannot be certain.

Warweaver 5 does indeed let this be done, but only on a certain subset of touch ranged spells.
