My bonus tools for 4E are up. If you think the ability generator falls short compared to the encounter builder, you're right.

While the encounter generator does appear to be more useful than the ability generator, I feel each has its use and works well within that. I used the ability generator to check the stats for the catfolk character that one of my players has. I discovered that the character was two points shy in Dexterity, a very important ability for the rogue she is.

I was fortunate that the halfling had the same ability bonuses as we have assigned to the catfolk (a house rule creation).

The tool would be more useful if there was a way to boost stats for those creatures in the MM that can be played. I have a feeling that every one of them are being played somewhere or another.

Still, thanks for the tools and I look forward to more in the future.

It'd be really nice to have an option to expand the party range to include (+/-5) upleveled or deleveled monsters (DM's Toolbox). It'd also be really nice to be able to expand its list of options without using Other.

I'd love to be able to put monsters and traps into an index file (csv, for instance) and input it, then go nuts from there.

The encounter generator looks nifty, but it needs a Clear All button. Got one brewing?

Don't visit the regular DDI General forum to notice what some people are saying about these little flash things.

I wish I could just print out a long list of every possible number combination, such as with the stat builder, and just start with that. Like a comprehensive array list using the point-buy system.

Nothing's official until it's announced, if then, but here's what I can say about a wish list tracker, a clear all button, upleveled and downleveled monsters, etc. We have a choice among a number of mutually exclusive options: adding this or that feature to a bonus tool, making a new bonus tool that does one thing, or making a new bonus tool that does another. We'd like to do everything, but we can't. So we have to figure out how important each option is and how much time it takes so we can do the work with the highest payoff first. Considered in isolation, each option is a gimme. Should we add a Clear All button? Sure! But the options aren't in isolation, and pursuing one option means delaying all the others. So there are plenty of good ideas coming in from you fans, and the only thing I can guarantee is that some good options have to be delayed so that others can be expedited.

You also have to be careful not to give away the character creator for free in tiny segments. It looked very extensive when I saw it at GenCon.

As someone who wasn't particularly impressed by the bonus tools (then again I wasn't impressed with the Compendium at first, now I'm eagerly awaiting for when I can hand over some cash for a subscription to it ), I'm very happy to hear the bonus tools are still being worked on :D I had originally thought that the initial version was the final version.
