If a Transformers TCG or CCG was made, how would you, the fans want it to be structured like? I've always hoped that Wizards would make a true to form TCG for the Transformers, incorporating a little of Magic the Gathering or maybe from the minis game with 20d rules. What I want to know is what the fans would want to see since the 3-D Battle Cards weren't exactly what everyone was asking for from Wizards. By no means would this game ever be made, but its something I'm curious about.
The two different variations of game features are: 1) Magic the Gathering/World of Warcraft Substituting the MTG creature and storyline with Transformers characters, objects and events. This version is more straight forward, less complicated and sped up. It would feature a color of energon for each faction (eg. Autobots = Red, Decepticons = Purple, Quintessons = Green, etc.) much like the mana colors in MTG. The object of this version of the game is to damage your opponent player(s) until their hitpoints reach zero. The character cards would play to attack opponents and defend their controlling player. In this game Bumblebee would stand no chance against Megatron.
2) Heroclix/Starwars Minis (except with cards) - These two games don't involve cards, but they involve dice and probabilities instead of just relying on cards alone. Like these games attacking in the game would involve taking one cards attack value and adding a dice roll to it, comparing it to the defending cards defense value and applying damage if its a hit. Other cards would do instant damage or set up circumstances like the first version of the game. There would be a set energon cost without colors to think about. These character cards would be set at base cards that provide the energon currency for the game. The object of this game would be to destroy all of the other players characters and capture all of their bases. This version would be slower paced, but also much more complex with more variables and chance to play with. Even Bumblebee would have a chance of damaging Megatron.
So what does everyone think? One game or the other, a combination of the two? Nothing too exciting at this point but I'm eager to put something together and experiment some more with the mechanics. Who knows, maybe Hasbro and Wizards will find out what a good Transformers card game should be like and listen to the fans.
Thanks everyone! Mike

Probably not a good idea to suggest actual rules here, considering...
But, yes, if the Transformers game had either used a more 'serious' rules set, or at least actually made some use of the figures included, it probably would have done better.
