I made an interesting choice a couple weeks ago.

I've been the lead of the mechanical design team, but I haven't been as happy or as productive in that role as I'd like to be.

I've opted to step aside and work as a regular designer. Design work is what I enjoy most and it plays to my strengths.

Mike Mearls steps into the role of lead mechanical designer, which is wonderful because it gets him working on design, as he should, and I think he'll do a better job as team lead.

If this means more opportunity to actually work with you on books, I'm all for it.

That seems likely, Mouseferari.

For me, the move should mean more time spent designing and writing. And less time managing, in non-design meetings, and overseeing other people's design work.

More designing and writing is always good. Note to self: Monkey needs to do more designing and writing. :D

I could really use with less management, meetings, and overseeing to let me have time designing and writing.

I could also use food and a place to live, so reality's not working out for me on that yet. I'm glad that decision worked out for somebody other than me though
