Hello, I'm a new player here and thought I wanted to concentrate on the standard card set after some advice I received. And I wonder, since there are more experienced people here, if starting with a red/black vampire deck would be a decent idea?

Unfortunately, VCLs do not currently have the tools necessary to take moderation actions directly. VCLs submit their actions to ORCs, who then actually perform the action. This processing can take between a few minutes and several hours, depending on how busy/attentive the ORCs are. If you see something that needs VCL attention, please use this thread (MTGO) or this thread (paper) to make a request and a VCL will look at it as soon as possible. CoC violations should be reported to Customer Service using the "report post" button. Our advice is usually to play whatever suits your style and is fun for you. Now, what is "fun" is different for everyone. Some people like to cast giant creatures  . Other's like to play giant creatures very fast  . Some people like to play cheap creatures and try to end the game in a few turns while others like to make the game drag on for a long time, eventually winning after completely nullifying everything their opponent attempts. Basically, there are lots and lots of different ways to play Magic. I can't say that a red/black vampire deck is the best for you, you'll either have to find that out yourself or give us more information about what you are looking to get out of a game of magic.

Makes quite a lot of sense, the thing is I don't quite yet know what I want to play as there are a lot of different cards out there. I think I just have to try a vampire deck and see how I like it, I like the look of the cards so far I believe at least. Thanks for the response kaioshin, this been quite a friendly and helpful community to me so far^^

Red/black is usually fairly straightforward and great for aggressive players. Vampires isn't a bad choice either considering there are 2 Stromkirk Captain  s in the Deck Builder's Essentials, but you may want to round out your deck later with other Innistrad vampires (assuming you're sticking to Standard format) and Vampire Nighthawk  s.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash but while there aren't many Vampires, there's a good number of red and black cards (especially in RtR) that could be useful.

Beewo, Welcome to MTGO! I don't play much competitive Magic (lack of  ); I play mostly casual. If money is not an issue, then you can put together some good black/red Standard Vampire decks (I think?). It is not (currently) a very popular tournament deck, but that doesn't mean that you can't make it work (I think? LOL). Follow this link for a list of meta game tourney decks: www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.a...Many of the "better" cards for the B/R vamp. deck are quite expensive... Falkenrath Aristocrat  25-30 tix, Olivia Voldaren  ~10 tix, and Stromkirk Noble  and Vampire Nocturnus  are both 2-3 tix each. The good news is that you can get a playset of Vampire Nighthawk for about 1/2 ticket. There are alot of helpful and knowledgeable people on these forums; many of which can point you in the right direction. Much of what you are looking for depends on the money you are willing to spend and the level at which you want to be competitive (casual, tournament, etc.) Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the help^^ I finished my vamp deck and I quite like it, and as you said Lafave some cards are a bit too expensive. I skipped the aristocrat because of it, still it runs smoothly enough for me. Thanks for the help everyone^^ Just thought I say that as a final finish for this thread.
