I really don't understand why Wizards doesn't encourage people to play more Legacy and Classic. It's very rare to find a 4 rounds tournaments of those formats with the minimum of 16 players. They could either keep the same entry fee and give more prizes or just reduce the entry fee. Or reduce the minimum amount of players to 8 adjusting prizes (6 boosters for 3-0 and 4 for 2-1, for example). That way they could get something for nothing (tickets have to be bought at the store, boosters are made from thin virtual air) and would attract more people to play Magic Online, therefore making more likely that they also play other formats.
Why does Wizards just let formats die?

Give out an alt art/old frame/new frame etc promo card for the people that go 4-0.
Just a common/uncommon that is played on a regular basis in legacy/classic.
Nothing huge, but people love pimping out their decks.

That's also a good idea, the point is just to make those tournaments run.

Well for one thing, just because boosters don't have a physical cost associated with them doesn't mean that every booster they produce "out of thin air" has no cost associated with it. Each booster produced as a prize is a booster that is NOT sold at the store.
Secondly, it's more complicated that than simply throwing more at formats.

You are right, they aren't completely free for them.
So, instead of making these tournaments more profitable for players, what about decreasing the minimum of players to 8 (3 rounds)? That way, Eternal players could play Scheduled Events, even if they are small, instead of joining an Event that doesn't run.
What do you think is making people not joining these events, Dangerlinto? I have read several times people complaining about the prizes being too small compared to the investment that you need to do to play Eternal. These small 4 rounds tournaments don't let someone get lots of boosters if they are lucky (and skilled) enough, but the average number of boosters given to each participant makes them even better than many of the Premier Events (each players gets an average of 2.1875 boosters in a 4 rounds Eventm which are valued at about 8 tickets, while the entry fee is 6).

8 man swiss rounds might be a little more attractive, particularly given the generally busy nature of the average Legacy/Classic player.

Swiss 8-mans would be awesome for classic/legacy!
Note that I think we should have a separate classic version of the MOCS...
Calavera on MTGO I collect Zendikar Foil Basic lands. Trade me yours! Things that I want to see changed on MTGO: 1: 64 man drafts added to rotation of Events. 2: Visual/Audible Notification of disconnect, deckbuild/afk time expiring and round starts. 3: Prize Payouts as close to draft sets as possible. 4: Rotate Classic draft queues monthly! 5: MOCS level events for Classic/Pauper 6: Power 9! 7: Award Promo Cards for Constructed PEs (esp for Legacy/Classic) 8: Program Split option back in! 9: Set Favorite version in deck editor (i.e. always use x swamp) 10: Better sorting of gold cards in deck editor. 11: Bring leagues Back!

I used to advocate for the same thing, then I realized that 2 man queues do the same thing as 8 man Swiss - a pack a win - and they fire faster.

You are forgetting the most important thing.... QP!!!
i absolutely must get to 15 QP this month! I'd love to do it playing nothing but classic 8-mans but that isn't an option... Heck I can't even count on the 16 mans firing... I'm really going to need to grind.
