I don't know much about the cost. Do you buy the cards/packs after obtaining Magic Online? If so, I just think that would be too expensive. If it's anything like the Pokemon TCGO, then I'm not sure I could afford it. It's hard enough to pay for the actual cards, much less digital ones. Then again I could be wrong and may be missing out bigtime. That's why I'm asking you guys if you could help fill me in a bit since I'm a little new.
Also, I apologize in advance if this is the wrong section for this, but this is the closest thing I could find for asking about Magic Online. :/

There's a whole area for MTGO. Buying directly from Wizards is the same as IRL, but more convenient. Buying secondhand is much cheaper due to the flatness of the market.
I use it when I can't get away to play.

You mean besides the whole forum dedicated to MTGO?
Once you download the game (free), you have to pay money to play it. You'll need to buy event tickets (tix), which then can be used to buy directly into tournaments or traded to bots/other players for cards or packs. You can also just buy a lot of packs and then use them to play in drafts/sealed deck tournaments. However, most tournaments still require a small entry fee in tix.
Alternatively, if you just buy singles for a deck, you can play for free in practice rooms, but you can't actually win anything.

the actual Magic Online forum is below, this thread will be moved soon
for $10 you get the account, some M13 cards, a M13 booster pack, 2 event tickets and some "Planeswalker cards"
after that it works like on paper, you buy boosters or trade for cards with other players (or bots)
if you want to keep your expenses low buy the "Planeswalker cards" they are not tradeable, only useable in the "New Player" room, but for $5 you get cards from all of Magic's history that would cost you way over $100 if you were to buy them in their "black border" version the ones that come with the account already allow for a large variety of decks, further (different) packs just add to that variety

Unfortunately, VCLs do not currently have the tools necessary to take moderation actions directly. VCLs submit their actions to ORCs, who then actually perform the action. This processing can take between a few minutes and several hours, depending on how busy/attentive the ORCs are. If you see something that needs VCL attention, please use this thread (MTGO) or this thread (paper) to make a request and a VCL will look at it as soon as possible. CoC violations should be reported to Customer Service using the "report post" button. It works just like paper except you don't actually own anything and overall the cards and games are easier to obtain. (there's a bit more to it like redemption and such but that's the short of it) I think this thread below should be a new player forum sticky ↓ community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758...

False.
You own a license to use the cards. Just like you own a licesnce to use the software on the computer you used to make your post.
Yay terms and conditions.
