Hi everyone. There's a new blog post regarding a change being applied to Magic Online during next Wednesday's (Dec. 12th) downtime, which will disable the ability to watch replays while an event is still running. Replays can still be viewed as normal after the events end. The post explains the full reasoning behind why the change is being made, so please read before discussing in this thread. Thank you!

I actually appreciate this change as I do feel the need to watch replays while waiting for my next round to see if my opponent has a supreme verdict or something to be scared of....
Not being able to will relieve that..
Calavera on MTGO I collect Zendikar Foil Basic lands. Trade me yours! Things that I want to see changed on MTGO: 1: 64 man drafts added to rotation of Events. 2: Visual/Audible Notification of disconnect, deckbuild/afk time expiring and round starts. 3: Prize Payouts as close to draft sets as possible. 4: Rotate Classic draft queues monthly! 5: MOCS level events for Classic/Pauper 6: Power 9! 7: Award Promo Cards for Constructed PEs (esp for Legacy/Classic) 8: Program Split option back in! 9: Set Favorite version in deck editor (i.e. always use x swamp) 10: Better sorting of gold cards in deck editor. 11: Bring leagues Back!

Good change. I always felt it was cheesy to be able to scout other decks.
And thanks for announcing it in advance.

Very good change !
Next up is starting to listen to what BlippyTheSlug, Silentbobus and Calavera say in these forums....and make changes accordingly.
(There is probably a good poster nickname or two Ive forgotten.)
- This is, honestly, a grotesque advantage.

Thanks for announcing this. Out of interest have those time limits on replays (12 hours for PE's and 15 minutes for the rest) always been there? and is there any reason for those particular times? As someone who never watches replays they seem like a very short window of opportunity. I'm thinking of people who might want to write tournament reports for PE's, or who saw an interesting deck and want to see how it did in the rest of the event in case its the next big thing.
I've bought the cards and made a deck Now how do I win at this?

Thanks for announcing this.
Allowing me only 15 minutes after the event ends is quite restrictive. Unless I'm the last person playing in an 8-man, I need to sit around and wait for the end of event alert so that I can get in and watch before they're no longer available. That's towards the opposite of fun.
As always, replays will remain available for viewing right after events have concluded. Replays for Premiere Events and Daily Events remain available for 12 hours, and all other events have replays available for 15 minutes after they end.

I could be wrong, but I believe the 15 min/12 hr expiration of the events is from the completed events list, which has always been the case (though never explicitly stated). If you leave the event scene open, it may not go away (someone please check). Also, any matches you've played (or otherwise hack into your played games list) should be watchable.
I do think 15 min is rather short, though I assume it is to keep the completed events list from being unwieldy more than restricting players from watching events.
This should be the standard for change announcements: a blog post well before the change with the reasons clearly laid out and an accompanying discussion thread.

As bubba0077 said. Now you could only watch the events for some time after the event has passed (let's say it's the same 15 mins). I don't see this as an issue because assuming the replay of your own games are still saved you can watch them whenever you wish. So basicly you can watch replays of OTHER people only in those 15 mins after the event has ended.

Good change. Now we can more focus on the match itself other than trying to find extra information.
Suggestion: We can only see replays in our own game history or finished events with in 15min/12h. It will be better if we can see replays by the game number. So we can share replays more easily.
