The very first online power should be distributed to the top 8 of the 20th anniversary vintage world champs.  Beyond that, no clue...just do it.

Just give me a few thousand of each card.  I'll distribute them.  I won't even charge tix for it, I'll just hand them out to people who amuse me.

We tried that once; it was a disaster.

Unfortunately, VCLs do not currently have the tools necessary to take moderation actions directly. VCLs submit their actions to ORCs, who then actually perform the action. This processing can take between a few minutes and several hours, depending on how busy/attentive the ORCs are.

If you see something that needs VCL attention, please use this thread (MTGO) or this thread (paper) to make a request and a VCL will look at it as soon as possible.  CoC violations should be reported to Customer Service using the "report post" button. Please do not disrupt the thread by making requests of either kind in-thread.

The idea was sound, just the way they went about it created bad feeling. Which is sad really since gleemox is banned in every format so why feel bad if you didn't get one? From my pov the only way to handle the P9 issue is to put them up for sale in the store as singles at market rate. Everyone has the same chance to get one and nobody gets to make a bunch of free money off the deal.

Worst idea I have heard so far.

How about "releasing" using an auction? Auction off a fixed number of each per day and specify how many days the auction will last (hopefully many months). They will start off expensive but gradually drop in price. We will know in advance the minimum number that will appear through this release method. Wizards could release more using other methods (mythics in MED5, prizes, promos, etc.) at any time just to give them additional control.

I really hate this idea. I know I would end up with none if we depended on auctioning to disperse them. I wasn't too thrilled with Ith's idea but at least it presumed some possibilty of getting some of the 9. Auctions go to the highest bidder (ofc) which means those people are very unlikely to sell for less and somewhat likely to sell for more than they bid.

My theory is that, as time passed, the amount they sold for in the auction would slowly decrease. People who wanted them sooner would pay more, driving up the initial auctions. Patient people would simply wait. The price would drop for a while, and then start rising again towards the end of the auction period.

I was also suggesting that there would be other ways they would/should enter circulation.

I'll admit I don't really know what I'm talking about. The auction behavior could be quite different. And, there's no way WotC would ever auction off cards like this.

Only other idea I kindov like is having a random p9 card as a prize for winning a cube draft or something similar.  It still does not fix the problem with all of the other cards that are going to shoot up in price which is why I think me5 is by far the best way to do it.  You could of course do a mix of the 2.

Seems to me the way to bess address multiple issues and make wotc lots of money would be to include P9 (original art) as mythics in Modern Masters (the online version only of course) or some sort of Legacy/Vintage Masters set.  Or similar set named ME5 - which is then continued as a changing but annual eternal core set.  The P9 could perhaps appear as mythics in these sets every few years.  Any of these options should be built to be at least reasonably draftable.  The boosters could be priced higher than usual, if the average value of the contents justified it.

The special P9 arts would be promos for winning any number of things, but what makes most sense to me would be prizes for legacy events since the prizes appear to be less-than-compelling for the intended audience currently, causing very few to fire.  (i'm in the camp that believes that's a bigger issue than the price of FoW)  Maybe also prizes for special cube events, rarely, and of course for events like eternal format MOCS.

Admittedly, i play less eternal formats than most here at this point - but something along the above lines seems like a pretty obvious path to take, killing (at least) two birds with one stone and making wotc a whole lot of $$.
