Is there any way to create a community public database, where people could share decks and records? It feels craft-like and improvised when compared to what WotC can do with its info, it would take a lot of time to grow, and even then the information it could provide would be some notches below what WotC could if they wanted to, but my guess is that, given time, it would be far above what WotC is doing right now, and what they say they're doing for the foreseeable future.

Also, it's easier (IMHO) to make them go back on this issue if they see withholding this info is pointless than if they see it's silly and most of the vocal community disagrees with it (which they're already seeing).

Imagine if the NFL only released scores from games that had the highest attendance in each division.

Imagine if you had to rely on rumor for your footy scores.

Imagine watching the championships with no clue how the teams playing got there.

This is what WotC wants MTGO to become; A vague realm where we have no real idea of what's really going on in the game.

Posting some of the decklists is even worse than posting all of them.  It just strangles out the innovation, and will lead people to continue bashing the same decks into each other.

I agree.  Ari Lax just posted an article about this on SCG where he says he found Vengevine on a single daily listing at 3-1 and tuned it for a PT.  While one other person seemed to find it, it is highly unlikely that newer strategies will show up at those events as they would be wildly untested and players would go play the "safe" decks.

@oraymw - My apologies, I misinterpreted your post.

I'm trying to make my official VCL posts in purple

Unfortunately, VCLs do not currently have the tools necessary to take moderation actions directly. VCLs submit their actions to ORCs, who then actually perform the action. This processing can take between a few minutes and several hours, depending on how busy/attentive the ORCs are.

If you see something that needs VCL attention, please use this thread (MTGO) or this thread (paper) to make a request and a VCL will look at it as soon as possible.  CoC violations should be reported to Customer Service using the "report post" button. Please do not disrupt the thread by making requests of either kind in-thread.

It's only because I can't express what I'd like to say without violating the CoC. And a picture is worth a thousand words.

So is anyone official going to make this announcement?  Why is this being handled so poorly?

No, we caught that.

So that's the sum of it? One forum reply, and a tweet?

I think we were expecting something a little more "formal" as a follow-up. Oh, well. Par for the course.

I disagree srongly with the change in policy.

And the timing (two weeks after the fact) stinks to high heaven of corporate image self-preservation.

Please understand that this should in no way be taken as an attack on you, personally. (Unless, of course, you had a hand in the policy change) The people that sign your check, yes. The people that made this decision, yes. You, personally, no. You're just doing your job.

With all that said, I plan on continuing my campaign for "All results! All the time!" with the same verve and don't-give-a-[expletive deleted] style I've been showing. You have been warned.
