The tournament lists promote creativity IMO. If you invent a deck and do well it's nice to know that people will see it and it sort of acts as a "record" of you being the one that made it.

In regards to the recent reduced event coverage, this was a conscious decision by the Wizards R&D team that wasn’t made lightly. Ultimately, we feel that publishing every deck list leads to solving constructed formats far too efficiently, resulting in early stagnation that’s not fun for anybody. We still want to show new deck ideas every day and provide insight into the Magic play environment, but we don’t want metagame development to become purely a function of data analysis. Going forward, we’ll still provide the winning deck lists from all Premier Event top 8’s. We will also show the 4-0 and 3-1 deck lists for one completed Daily Event in each format per day.
Hilarious. Isn't "R&D" responsible for creating formats? Maybe try making them harder to "solve" in the first place.

(Content Removed) Maybe you should just do this for standard? Or don't post sideboards? This was the most shifty dodgy thing I think you guys have ever pulled, suuuuch bad form. AND you still haven't fixed the deck lists from the pro tour, how are we supposed to have any faith in this company at all? Standard is already solved its called mono Thragtusk durdle, nice balanced card there btw. This is the information age, you cant put the genii back in the bottle. How does this stop people from gravitating even more towards the few deck lists that get out? How is some one supposed to brew for the metagame when they cant build to beat it?

this sucks, one of the most fun things about playing daily events was seeing your nick in the event coverage, what a (Content Removed) decision ( ORC_Cerberus: Edited - Vulgarity is against the Code of Conduct)

Maybe i'm alone in this, but i often used the posted decks to see what I DIDN'T want to build/play. I dislike playing the decks everyone else is playing.
I also liked it when i saw something new and innovative posting a good result, as it sometimes gives me ideas for something new for me to build.
At the least, i think posting the decks leads to creativity among others building new things to beat those most popular decks, at least to some extent.

Are the decks still being shared with some writers? If so, this is presumably done to give them material for their articles. On the other hand, this gives them great meta-game information and an unfair competitive advantage.

Not with this writer. (If you can call me that, I don't know if I qualify) Nor others I'm in contact with.
Even after a few days to "calm down", I'm still furious with this decision. I believe it is going to stifle creativity rather than enhance it it. I've noticed from the gate that WotC "general meta articles" dealing with my preferred format have been vague and somewhat inaccurate, and take them with several grains of salt. I believe knowing what's being played, and how it's doing, is key to brewing.
I am even more furious with how it was presented:

Basically this says R&D isn't creating a product with enough depth. We want to be able to make weaker cards so MTGO plays like a LGS, yet we don't care about stuff like scouting or the fact that meta info can still be picked up by those who want it by watching replays.
In fact any site who will go through the trouble to watch those replays and compile the data will be getting a lot of hits. Maybe I shouldn't be complaining as this could help my ad revenue.
Some formats may actually stagnate because of this. Pauper (which we know they dont' care about) will have 2-3 weeks where it's all MUC and then when people start figuring that out they start running black which causes people to start running white. The format isn't solved by any stretch, but knowing meta analysis helps people decide to play a diverse deck rather than either playing with no info, or simply not playing.
Regardless this is bad PR and I don't approve of this change.

Don't worry, if you're still outraged in a week someone from Wizards will come and tell you that you're "in the vocal minority" and that people really love that they've stopped posting decklists.

Or....since a lot of people have spoken out on this issue they might take notice and innerwardly at least acknowledge that a mistake was made. Not necessarily in the decision (though I think it is terribly foolish to think that it will have any kind of positive effect -- but Im just one guy) but in how it was executed and presented. (Or not as the case may be.)
