Using "~" as "not" for the text search is a poor choice. "~" usually means approximately.
You should use "!" instead. That is much more commonly used as "not." Searching for "!destroy" would find all cards without the word destroy in their rules text.
In formal logic, ~ *is* used as a negation symbol. ! is only used for negation in programming. Also, ! is part of several card names, though only one in non-silver border land.
That's the first time I've ever heard of ~ being used for negation. I have the same experience as PirateAmmo with these symbols.

Back in my formal logic classes (I got a few logic-based credits!), ~ was always used for negation. However, I don't think that the target audience for this is those with backgrounds in formal logic. For most people, ! would be more appropriate. Especially those with a programming background where ~ simply means bitwise complement.
Maybe they used ~ because ! already appears in some card names?

I can tell you that ~ (tilde) was used in the formal methods lectures on my computation degree, and ! (exclamation mark / bang etc.) would have been used in the programming modules. So programmers ought to be equally at home with either. It's not even like ! is used in every programming language, vb uses the word not for example.

Using the tilde sign (~) to exclude results for the text search is a poor choice. The tilde sign (~) usually means approximately.
You should use the exclamation mark (!) instead. That is much more commonly used. Searching for [ !destroy ] would find all cards without the word destroy in their rules text.
I think dash (-) would also be good. Searching for [ haste -flying ] would find all cards with haste but without flying in their text.

I think "-" would also be good. Searching for "haste -flying" would find all cards with haste but without flying in their text.
I think there could be problems using characters that appear in card names. For example, should "-kor" match Lancers en-Kor or exclude it?
On the other hand, Google uses - (dash) to exclude a word and ~ (tilde) to include similar words. Maybe we shouldn't care to much about the Kor's and use -?

[ -kor ] would exclude Lancers en-Kor . [ en-kor ] would match it, and [ "-kor" ] would match it.

Trading
Hi, a few issues with / still in the current build.
The default trade binder seems to auto-repopulate itself from cards in your collection. E.G. if I have 5 of a card and put 1 in the binder for trade, it will keep trying to trade 1 away every time I do a trade. I guess this is good for bots / professional traders, but it is terrible for people who want to use their trade binder just for trading away excess / unwanted cards. The current functionality means I can "lose" cards from my collection I did not intend to trade away. I have to imagine there are more of us in this second category ?
Double clicking on tickets to get one while trading doesn't work. It also also frustrating that you can't specify a number of tickets / cards that you want.
Would like to see the new client show you how many of a given card you already have (like the old client) during trades. It looks like this funtionality is intended (Since the yellow placeholder indicator is there) but not yet implemented.
Thanks.

One question. Where are all the theme decks, duel decks and event decks, etc. listed? Currently they are in a folder on our computer, but the only deck folders we now have are on the server for decks we make. I don't want to have to go hunting on the net to find the deck list for all the theme decks when I want to build them. Assuming they will be added at some point it might be a good idea to make one of the planeswalker decks the default new player deck as well as then making the default room and game type be new player room and planeswalker format.
I've bought the cards and made a deck Now how do I win at this?

If you are looking for theme decks in the live client they are here:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Wizards of the Coast\Magic Online\3.0\Decks
or here (for Win 7):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Wizards of the Coast\Magic Online\Decks
The beta doesn not have these online as far as I know.
You could upload them yourself but as you said one day we will all get them either way.

I hate the beta client so much I can not stand it. Im guessing over time I will get use to it when it is forced on me. My question to you guys that have made the switch, do any of you like it over the old/current system?
