(rant) THIS CLIENT MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM!! my GOD, every ten minutes i feel so frusterated with this client that i can feel my blood pressure spike way up; so much so that i want to scream!!!
(/rant)

anyways, here are two concrete questions that maybe have answers:

1) is this client not meant to be played on a resolution of 1024x768? this is the highest my netbook (my only computer) supports, which worked perfectly fine on the current client. but i wonder if that's the case with this new client:
` - upon drawing my hand of seven cards, the righthand side of each card [but the last] is cut off, making me unable to see the casting cost
` - if i go to Account > Input Settings, the righthand column ("In-Key Dual Bindings") is cut off; in this column, at the very bottom, there is the text "Disable Bluffing", and right underneath the text is a picture of keys for that binding, but they are cut off. who knows what else i'm missing. but there are no scrollbars.
` - the same thing is happening in Account > In-Duel Stops. There is one paragraph of text ("When you set a stop, you are [...] regardless of your stop settings"), and it looks like there is another paragraph of text coming up, but i only see the very tops of the tallest letters; the paragraph is completely cut off. Again, there are no scrollbars.

2) how do i leave a tournament event after joining it? it took me by surprise when looking up the New Player Phantom Event that i often play on sundays, that i was told something like "select an option below", and when i clicked on "four tickets", i was instantly joined. i was expecting a "use this payment option" button or a confirmation question to pop up.
` well i guess i'm playing today, 'cause i don't know how to un-join this event, now!

Just close the event window with the main window open. You get a confirmation dialog asking whether you really want to quit.

And you don't leave the tournament if you close the main window, even though this closes all tournament windows.

50. Doesn't hurt. Yet.

The pop up box in the bottom RHS of the screen telling me a buddy has signed in is very irritating, I get it every time a bot gets off a trade.

That is easily disabled under Account.

Thanks! OK, found it and disabled it. This setting does seem pretty useless though, since it is not usable if you add bots to your buddies list. Either there needs to be a way of differentiating bots from buddies, alternatively it could inform you when a clan member logs on.

Thoughts on the new client:

First off, this is a much better client than the old one. Navigation is better, needless items have been removed, and the new windows for games is a welcome improvement.

Items that need further improvement:

1) General GUI:
     - There is a bar for "MTGO" and a welcome message. Another bar for menu options. Yet another bar for time, client version, and trademark. And yet ANOTHER bar for search. These can easily be combined into one-two bars.
     - Overly large buttons.
     - Change checkboxes/radio buttons to auto-sizing dropdown lists - or give us an option to do so.
     - Empty space around buttons, between windows, and within lists. Half the space around buttons and list items is blank space, making them larger than they need be. The window sizers are quite big as well - are they even needed? Wouldn't a pointer change to a sizer accomplish the same thing? Eliminating empty space would make things like dropdowns show many more items without need to scroll. As few scrollbars as possible is a good thing. But main thing is to get rid of all the useless empty space in the client.
     - As few scrollbars as possible.
     - Marketplace is obsolete and a barrier to trade. Collections and binders should hold trade information, with buy/sell prices and checkbox for card-for-card trade only. Import/Export with CSV needed. (Autotrade and botting are NOT needed.)
     - Replace the tourney list with a calendar layout, with options for monthly-weekly-daily views, indicators for saved/entered tourneys, and ability to add my own reminders.

All told, I want more useful information showing in the client, and less empty space and "fancy-looking" option displays. This was a problem in the old client and I'm not happy to see it in the new. I remember the Leaping Lizards client did this much better.

2) Card presentation:
     - A universal card-sizer is needed, card size options need to go smaller than is currently allowed, and all card "zones" EVERYWHERE need a sizing option.
     - The default card placement in games is OK, but I would like the ability to define where I want my lands/creatures/permanents to show up, and how. Consider a layout GUI, with sizeable placement rectangles for permanent types, and with the ability to define alignments and stacking options.
     - Save my views and sorting.
     - Foil animations need improvement.

3) Game Play
     - Transparent windows for stack, effect, and end-of-game are confusing - make these solid. And smart-size these windows to the cards/effects.
     - Bring back effect arrows.
     - Add an indicator to the turn phase bar telling me what my yield status is
     - Shrink/Move/Eliminate the phase priority "OK" window. Use this space to expand the players pane down.
     - Combine the Exiled/Shields/Reveald with graveyard, move to the left, and permanently showeach as dropdowns
     - Make Life Total more prominent
     - Move "Basic Land" section to the left side - or just make it a button and remove the pane altogether. Move draft table to the right side.
     - Assuming empty space and card size issues are fixed, default chat within the gameplay window, at the bottom, with option to "detach" it to its own window.

4) Miscellaneous
     - Add option to show/hide my ratings.
     - Save as many payment options as possible (all but card security code would be perfect)
     - Break out 4Rnd and Premium tourneys in tourney game types (assumes Calendar not implemented)
     - Add instant search and basic search logic
     - Better display at different resolutions

And finally, the forums for posting improvements are too numerous. We (the players) shouldn't have to make so many posts to so many categories to list out our thoughts. Forums for Collection, Play, Store, Trade, Tourneys, Drafting, and Misc, with subcategories for Layouts and Actions, are all that's needed.

Apologies if some of these items can already be done. I do believe this client is a vast improvement over the old. I am especially pleased to see that it will be much easier to implement new/requested features. Hopefully those above will be among those implemented!

Minor request: when the logon screen comes up, I don't want to click the password field.  I just want to start typing and the password fills in.  Happens often enough to be worth this small edit.

A Blocklist feature missing.

What I'm missing in the new client, is the comment Tab in the blocklist section.

In the old client I have a list of people banned with also a reason attached. This is a VERY important feature of the blocklist, because the reasons for blocks may vary.

For example I ban people for:
- misbehaving, insulting others
- abusing certain game mechanics like taking infinite turns early on
- intentionally stalling games

Those are all different reasons.. So whenever I play a (multiplayer) game with them again, I want to know what they did wrong.
This feature is like a criminal record! It's VERY IMPORTANT!

I'd like to see an option to revert back to default the in-duel stops you've set yourself. This should come in handy especially for beginner player who might have fiddled around with the stops but can't remember what the default in-duel stop configuration was.

Sorry for the late feedback (could not post before):
- The email address is shown with "..." for security reasons in the first part of the address (even when there
is enough space to show the whole address). In my opinion there are no such security actions needed here. The
account screen is no official shown website, it is only shown on my own computer and that "security reason" makes
it impossible for me to see which email address I used for this MTGO account.

- The Prize Eligibility in the Policy Agreements should be changeable without the need to scroll down the text below.
Because it feels like a bug that the radio buttons are not active by default and most users will not register that
they need to scroll down first.

Regards

Rigel

What I always found annoying about the current interface is that if I changed any stops during a game, they were automatically saved and would be set in my next game, even if I logged off. I think there should be a distinction between your default stops (set through preferences or maybe even an in-game "save" button) and the stops you set in a particular game.

I was once in a race where the clock was the only victory condition. I removed all of my stops and would just discard. I forgot to go to my preferences and adjust my stops before the next game and skipped my first turn.
