Hello, hope everyone is having a good weekend.
I played MTGO for several years and quit to play more paper magic but I'm looking to get back into it.
The availbility of legacy games is the main reason I'm considering coming back. I know there's a supported legacy format for sanctioned events but I'm wondering just how popular it is. Do the premier and daily events typically have enough people to kick off? Is it relatively easy to find a legacy game outside of the events? Does MTGO still have the 8 player events, if so do they support legacy and do those events fill often?
Thanks a lot for any information you can provide. I've gotta get bootcamp and buy a copy of windows to run MTGO so I'd like to know as much as I can before I set it all up.

As a fellow Mac user, your computer should already have bootcamp, unless it's super old. But it's not too hard to set up, just takes a few hours. Windows takes forever to install.
Currently Legacy is not firing that many events. It was really hot in 2010 and 2011 until Modern came out. From the State of the Program article on puremtgo.com, last week Modern fired 29 events while Legacy fired 0. I don't follow Legacy that closely, but I think it is now in the realm of formats that fire seasonally when there is a large paper event people need to practice for. I do see people playing Legacy games regularly in the Tournament Practice room though.

While Legacy dosen't fire. Classic does. There are normally 1-3 daily events a week that fire, and about a third of the casual games use it as their format. While Classic is aiming to be the mtgo version of vintage (restricted list not a banned list) it is still missing power. So it may be close enough for you to play untill the legacy players come on line.
I've bought the cards and made a deck Now how do I win at this?

Hi Semosoldier,
I have run MTGO on a Mac with Bootcamp and Windows. May I suggest that you also get a two button usb mouse, and possibly a cheap usb Windows keyboard? This will make your life a lot easier, in my experience. There are several functions which require the use of the right mouse button, and hitting CTRL to get the second mouse button options never worked in my experience.
The keyboard helps because when ORCs are helping you in game and describing things, they'll be describing them assuming that you have a Windows computer, and if they are trying to help you find something on the keyboard it's just a lot easier.
Hope we see you in game soon!
