Been very successful with this deck but my main problem usually happens when I am against wolf and self milling decks. Please recommend cards in the same block.
Well, there are some cards that I see that don't really seem to be doing very much:
Curse of Exhaustion
Curiosity
Grimoire of the Dead
Niblis of the Breath
<---this one="" might="" be="" great="" actually="" it="" depends="" on="" how="" well="" works="" for="" you="" in="" actual="" gameplay="" br=""> Nevermore
- again, might be good or bad, I've never actually played it, but it seems more of a sideboard card
Some good cards you may want to consider
Mindshrieker
Midnight Haunting
Stormbound Geist
Battleground Geist
At first, I thought that Thought Scour
wasn't doing very much, because you don't have too many flashback cards. Then, I saw the pikes in the sideboard and saw the interaction with Angel Flight Alabaster
and I changed my mind and now think that they are likely pretty good.
What to do with the deck depends on how the wolf and self milling decks are beating you.
Does the wolf deck just win too fast or does it kill your creatures?
Is the problem with self-mill the Spider Spawning
?
As of now, I think the best card in your deck is likely Geist of Saint Traft...but that's super expensive. So, besides that, I think it is the Drogskol Captain
. So, to maximize it's power, I think you should likely try and play more low mana cost spirits. I think Midnight Haunting
fits this roll really really well. Being an instant makes your Dissipate
s much much better. You only need to play the haunting if A) your opponent attacks in a way that two 1/1s will really mess up or B) the end of your opponent's turn. Thus, you can just leave your mana open and use a Dissipate
if they try to play something really dangeround or play your haunting if they don't play anything worth the counterspell.
If you do add the hauntings, I might suggest also going up to 4x dissipate, just for this particular interaction. Additionally, your cackling counterparts are also instants and will benifit from this interaction
Mentor of the meek is also really really really good when you have the mana.
Speaking of lands, you may want 2 more....do you ever have the mana to play your Drogskol Reaver
? I know it'll probably win the game if it comes down and isn't killed immediately, but do you often find yourself not able to cast it?
So, my suggestions might be something like this:
Take out:
2x Curiosity
1x Nevermore
1x Grimoire of the Dead
3x Niblis of the Breath
1x Sturmgeist
1x Curse of Exhaustion
Add:
4x Midnight Haunting
2x Disipate
1x Mentor of the Meek
1x Plains
1x Island
With the increase in Instants, it may be good to move some runechanter's pikes into the maindeck, but I don't know what to take out (Drogskol Reavers?).
You may also want some more 2 mana spirits (Mindshrieker or Nibilis of the Urn), both so you can start applying pressure early and because of the really nice interaction with Mentor of the Meek
.
Remember, with Mentor of the Meek in play, Midnight Haunting
becomes "
- Put 2x 1/1 Flying spirits into play and draw 2 cards", which is awesome.
hope that helps some
