Having a problem with the MTGO game
Hey guys will someone help me out - yesterday i tried to play Consume Spirirt X1B on a friends 2/2 creature.
I tapped 4 swamps, clicked on the spell, and targeted - then the game asked for how much damage X should be, and told me to click the black mana symbol next to the player avatar.
I did that and the game would only use X=1 mana for the spell instead of all the mana in my pool ( X=2 ).
Will someone please tell me what i did wrong, iv tried googling mtgo and X cmc spells, tried youtube and everywhere else.
There is no information or tutorials anywhere i could find that show me how to properly play a consume spirit or fireball type spell on MTGO, im just frustrated i cant figure it out - since the UI doesnt do a good job of telling you what to do.
please help
( iv played paper magic for years, this is my first time trying MTGO )
how do i properly use fireball / consume spirit type spells in MTGO where X is greater than 1.

Usually I click the card I want to play first then Mtgo will tell you that (in your case) you have to tap 1 + black - then you do that. Then it asks you about the number of x and you just click the appropriate mana producers (or if you already tapped some and have them in the mana pool - click the mana pool ones).

Keep clicking the black mana symbol. It'll put one mana into the spell for each time you click, if you want X to be 2, then you need to click twice.

For stuff like this I have a test deck. It has a bunch of lands in it then I put in any cards I'm trying to figure out and I start a solitare game in the casual room to figure out the interface.
