What is it? 
Tournament of Kings (ToK) is a 2-Headed Giant tournament in Standard format. ToK is a single elimination event with a seeding structure. You keep playing as long as you keep winning. 

A team's seed is their overall ranking within past tournaments. The higher your seed is, the better chance you have of getting an early round bye. If you're familiar with college & professional team sport playoffs, it's pretty much the same system.

When is it?
ToK games happen every Wednesday night at 830PM EST. The next ToK is tonight, September 14th, 2011.

Where is it?
Games happen in the Multiplayer room. (Menu > Play > Casual Play > Multiplayer)

Game chat, registration, & instructions happen in the ToK room. Type /join ToK in your chat window. 
  
Does it cost anything? 
ToK is free to enter! There is absolutely no cost - other than your time - to play.

How do I register?
Registration opens at 8PM EST. Simply PM me your team, or single, information before 830PM EST. I will be in the ToK chat room by 7PM EST at the latest. 

What can I win?
The winning team receives 8 tickets credit at TheCardNexus. This is split evenly between the team members, unless other arrangements are made. So each team member would get 4 tickets credit. 

The second place team will receive 4 tickets credit (again, split by the team) at TheCardNexus to buy tissues to cry into. 

Please do not use credits to buy tickets. Boosters are ok, tho. This is a request from the sponsor; if we can't keep the sponsor happy, then we lose sponsorship and the event goes bye-bye.

1st & 2nd place teams must post their decklists in this thread, before the next event happens, in order to receive their prizes. Teams also agree to have their playernames & decklists posted at TheCardNexus website.

How do I collect my prizes?
If you currently have credit at TheCardNexus, your prize winnings will be automatically added.

If you've never traded with TheCardNexus before, or your current credit with them is 0, a credit entry has to made into the bot. This credit entry cannot be done manually, it has to be done via a trade. You will first have either A) buy something from the bot and "leave change" (easiest), or B) open a trade with one of TheCardNexus buy bots and sell a "piece of junk" (basic land, trash common, etc.) to create the credit entry. If you do not have a piece of junk to sell, you can obtain a free piece of junk from TheCardNexusHelp account, or from  me. Then let me or the sponsor know, and you prize credits will be added.

This only applies to winners who have 0 credits at TheCardNexus. If you use your credits fully, and go back to 0 credits, you will have to remake your credit entry again. But since TheCardNexus does their valuations to 3 decimal points, I don't see this becoming a problem. 

How do I register?
Registration opens at 7:30PM EST. Simply PM me your team information before 8PM EST. 

What if I don't have a partner?
You can register yourself as a single if you don't have a partner. I am a "standby" single if there is an odd number of singles playing.

Singles teams are generated randomly. You do not get to pick your partner if more than one other single is available.

If you decide to play as a single, your seed points would apply to you only. If you get paired with a lower seeded single, the lower seed takes precedence.

If you decide to pair up with another single and form a team, you may drop your single registration, and your new team's seed points would be the lower of the 2 players.

How does the seeding system work?
A game win gives you one seed point. A game loss takes away 1 seed point. Your seed points cannot go below 0. What can these seed points get you?

4-16 points = 1st Round bye
17-32 points = 1st & 2nd Round bye
33+ points = 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Round bye

These byes are NOT guaranteed. 

You may give up your bye and play earlier rounds if you so desire.

Fine print
~ Event will be single elimination. You keep playing as long as you keep winning.
~ Deck changes between games are not allowed.
~ Games are played in the Play > Casual Play > Mulitplayer room. Games must be set watchable, single game win, and be marked "TOK Round x".
~ First team listed makes table. Players must make/join tables in their assigned order. Players have 10 minutes to make and join tables from time of pairings announcement.  A highly seeded team may have several byes as the season goes on. Prepare for this.
~ Games are timed. If your game clock reaches 40:00, you must concede your chair. Your partner may continue to play.
~ One partner conceding for advantage is not allowed. If one partner concedes, it is considered a team loss. The exception to this is forced concession of one player due to timeout.
~ Bullying, mobbing, foul language, & general rudeness will not be tolerated. This includes "snide remarks" about decks/playing ability, personal attacks, racial slurs etc. A player will get 1 warning, then be ejected from event, with forfeiture of any prizes.
~ Talking during other players games is not allowed, you may chat - within the guidlines above - within your own game. Event participants will get 1 warning, then be ejected from event, with forfeiture of any prizes. Violations by non event participants may be screenshot & reported to WotC for harassment.
~ Winners must PM host with the result. Losers may do so, as well, but are not required to.
~ Event Finalists must post decklists in this thread BEFORE THE NEXT EVENT in order to be eligible for prizes. Decklists & playernames may be posted on TheCardNexus site in event related articles.
~ Ban List: 1) Serra Ascendant is banned from ToK play.
~ Restricted List: 1) Luminarch Ascension is restricted in ToK play. A team may not have more than 2 Luminarch Ascension. This can be 1/1, 0/2, or 2/0.
