Last time I spoke to you you were buying tickets for .92, I would be fine with giving you tickets as an "entry fee" and you give 92% of that in dollars to the fund. In fact it would be the only option for me to donate.
Edit: but then someone will probablyl come along and say you're profitting from this so idk if you wanna do that
I heard we're supposed to post in green if we don't like the new forums.

Right I don't want to in any way profit from this. I do plan on personally donating to the fund and putting up big prizes for the event.

Unfortunately, as much as we would like to, we cannot run or host an event like this for many reasons that I won't be able to get into here.
I do hope that he inability for users to have created their own solution in the MTGO interface isn't lost on WoTC.
Sorry, I'm feeling bitter....

Do we really need to set up the trust fund ourselves?
Or maybe Heath could just collect the money, and then send a check to Erik's wife to put in an education fund that they may already have.

I would be ok with this, but as Heath has stated, he wants to make sure there is a clear view of all the money coming in and going out so no one can question any part of the proccess. I dont blame him for thinking this way as he just covering his back and in this day and age you have to do that. I would trust him and a few others on here to handle this. - Joe

Just a note I am sure you already realized, accepting payment through your website means getting hit with ppal fees. Assuming you are lowest bracket thats like 2% but probably the cheapest and completely unavoidable.

Yeah I thought about that but would be willing to just pay the fees myself to make sure his son gets the full amount. 2% is still much less than 5%.

A problem with Momir Decks is that a number of folk might not have that card....myself included. What about those that can't play?

Any format chosen for a benefit tournament is going to have a barrier to entry in the form of a legal deck. I think that Momir is the format with the easiest entry requirement that can be chosen. If you can think of an alternative suggestion I am sure it can be considered.
