We will greatly miss you Erik.  Most of you know him as hamtastic but Erik was a wonderful guy with a beautiful wife and son.

Wow, this comes as such a shock, I was just reading his articles last week! I thought it was a cruel April Fool's joke until I read your article Heath, this is very sad indeed...

I must say, I will miss Erik alot.
He was all that people have said he was and yet more then most of us will ever know of him.
Not only will MTGO, but my life, will never be the same not having him around to talk to and listen to the things he would ask about.
My heart and prayers goes out to his family.

I was shocked to see the topic of this thread and after reading it I can hardly believe it. As a fellow writer and friend of Erik I will greatly miss him. He was an awesome guy very friendly and a great person to talk to. There are no amount of words I can use to describe Erik or this tragic accident. My condolences to Erik's family and friends.

Never met the guy and I'm inactive in Magic right now.  But I do know through his writing and videos that he struck me as simply THE most passionate Magic fan on the planet.  I'd hit up PureMTGO every week or so just to read his updates.

I think the best thing that I can say about Erik is this:

In general, MTGO discussions over the years have featured an underlying tone of gloom with all the client problems, leagues, etc.  Hammy was able to cast all of that crap aside and help me to remember that the game itself is still a wonderful product and something that we can all enjoy.  What an amazing ambassador he was.

RIP good sir.
