Fix Uneven Queue Payouts

Also, as someone who specializes in transformational programming, I'm at a loss to imagine an architecture where it couldn't be improved in *some* way...

The odd thing is that we COULD do this in the original beta and (I think) the early days of MTGO. So when did the software stop being able to do it? And did they forget to write it into their reqs when they started the whole v3-will-solve-it-all thing?



Do we want that to happen? I brought up in another thread that the ability to use 4 tix for a missing booster will make it incredibly difficult to trade a booster for anywhere close to 4 tix. If someone has ZW, there's a very unlikely chance that they would buy a Z for 4 from me when they can join the queue by adding the tix and saving time. I would be forced to sell my booster for 3 tix to a human or 3.xx to a bot. It would also be like forever having expensive nix pax queues. No boosters? Join the queue for 14 tix. Universal boosters would not be without problems but I think it would be less drastic.

So this thread keeps growing, and has gone off on a wild v4 tangent.  And while I look forward to all the promised v4 improvements we dont need any of them to fix this. 

We need WotC to stop devaluing their own prizes.  I obviously don't have access to sales data of the rate that drafts or queues fire.  But I know usually seek out the old sets.  But the current prizes and options are a total turnoff so I havent been playing. 

Both the MED123 which gives prizes that can't be used in another draft.  I know the v4 doesnt allow mixed yet but why not allow bot a nix tix and nix packs??  This just drives the value of the winnings into the floor.

And Nixpax ALA for 9 tix??  Doesnt this just do the same as above but even worse??  I mean ALA block draft cant stick around for that much longer so how long until the prizes are just worthless or maybe it has already happened.

And the UZUZUL draft.  Well the price of UL speaks for itself

The MED123 drafts are a special nix pax promotion and not part of the regular draft schedule. You will be able to use these winnings in drafts beginning Aug. 18 when this "set" rolls around again in the schedule.

I think its reasonable for WotC to occasionally have special tix-only queus.

Now, if you want to complain about the MED123 payout "shorting" us MED1 packs, you'd have my full support.

You asked and we listened. We are  making the following changes to queues.

  • Urza's Saga/Urza's Legacy 4322 queue will pay out:           
    • 1st - 2 Urza's Saga, 2 Urza's Legacy
    • 2nd - 2 Urza's Saga, 1 Urza's Legacy
    • 3rd and 4th - 1 Urza's Saga, 1 Urza's Legacy
  • Legacy, Classic and 100 Card Singleton 2 man queues will pay 1  Urza's Saga booster instead of Urza's Legacy.


Constructed change is probably more important as the draft payout is still imbalanced, although less so than before.

having the 2-man queues payout in the pack that is shorted in the draft payouts should actually help quite a bit. now I can play a 2-man and win and probably find a buyer for the Saga Pack or use it along with my 2,000,000 Legacy packs to enter a draft.

6: MOCS level events for Classic/Pauper
7: Power 9!
8: Award Promo Cards for Constructed PEs (esp for Legacy/Classic)
9: Program Split option back in!
10: Set Favorite version in deck editor (i.e. always use x swamp)
11: Better sorting of gold cards in deck editor.
12: Bring leagues Back!

Thanks for making the change guys!  I will now play UUL drafts happily again (luckly I didn't get any 2nd places so never got hit with the UZULUL payout).  Now there is just the problem with OOP Nix Tix sets paying out to few of the first set (ie. ME123 pays 2 ME1, 4 ME2, and 5 ME3, this should be changed to 3 ME1, 4 ME2, and 4 ME3)

Glad I asked .  Is this the first time they've changed prize payouts based on players requests/suggestions?

Nope. They have actually listened to us before I remember specifically someone (I think Worth) replying that they would always try to mirror  draft sets as closely as possible... unfortunately that brilliant statement is not being followed.

And I am pretty sure that you meant to say.. 4ME1, 4 ME2, 3ME3.
