So, I was doing a Zendikar draft the other day, and was presented with a foil Lotus Cobra in my second pack. After seeing that the regular one was being bought for 24, I quickly chose the sparkly slithery two drop.

After the draft (which I won too. Insane WB aggro with 3x Steppe Lynx), I went to the various bots looking to sell my mythic pull. But, every one that I went too was only offering me 26-27 tix for the foil version. I checked the sell prices which were as follows.

27 reg

35 Foil

The buy price on the regular is 3 tix lower, yet the buy price on foil is 8 tix lower. Why is there such a vast difference, or am I just going to the wrong traders?

Going to the wrong traders in general.  Most likely (Content Removed) or its siblings.  They do not pay well on foil and own that pretty proudly.  It's a reasonable decision though considering the slow turnaround on foils and the large investment.  Not many foil collectors exist anymore and that is a huge reason for the large classic foils plummeting in value.  If it weren't for redemption you would find the foil Lotus Cobra worth even less.  Just not enough people who care if there cards are foil or not online anymore.

Look for other foil bot chains and test out their buy prices if u want more

The foils turn slower.  By that I mean, they sell a lot more regular ones than foil ones.

This does a few things:

1)  It makes the regular ones less of a risk.
2)  It allows the seller to get a return on their investement faster, which can then be reinvested quicker.

For example, if I sell 4x regular ones in the same time it takes me to sell 1x foil, then a 3tix profit on one quickly becomes a 12tix profit.  Once I'm holding the foil, I don't have those 27tix to invest in something else that will turn faster.  So I can make 12tix in profit, or 8tix in profit over the same time period.

That makes economic sense BD. As a major in economics, I should have figured that out myself.

I decided just to sell it for the 27. I figure it only jumped up from the 12 I sold it for last time because of the Turbo lands deck. Since the deck is no longer new, other archetypes can only adjust for it, and the price has to fall. Besides, can't complain that much about making an effective 39 tix off of a 14 tix draft.

It's in invisible font.  Which is probably a good thing because the language he uses in that post would get him banned for life.

I like fun, but competitive decks.  So I might not play what is optimal but they have normally been tested to have a 2/3 winrate.

The best way to sell foils (especially the hard to find mythic foils) is to look for humans that redeem.  It takes longer than just dumping to a bot, but I guarantee you it will get you more tix.
