"1:42 PM ORC_*****: [@P]Account names used as a trade message are not allowed outside the trade areas as trading outside the designated areas is considered Room Disruption. Please remove this account from all areas other than the trade rooms. Further violations will result in termination of all your Magic Online accounts. [/@]"
I have been told before that I am allowed to play on my account. Now I'm not allowed in any rooms at all unless they are trading rooms because of my screen name? Seriously I'm fed up with being treated like 2nd class. I want to play on my name. I'm not given a single benefit by having a "trade name" and I'm not advertising any sort of trades in non-trading rooms.
If I want to enter an event on my name I should be able to no matter what the name is. Unless WOTC creates some sort of "official trading only accounts" or gives me a special priveledge then they should not be able to tell me that I cannot do something that all other accounts can do.
Also where do you draw the line? I've seen tons of players with accounts like "cardcollector" or "iliketotradz" etc and they get to play in events without being hassled by orcs.
This policy needs to be updated to something that is more consistend and fair to everyone.

Who told you this? The ban on account names in any game room/event with trading, bot, buy, sell, etc has been in place for years now.
Now if you want to complain about inconsistent enforcement of the policy, go right ahead, but that's been the policy for a long time.

I was told a while back that I could play on it after starting a thread similar to this one. I don't want to throw out any names though...
Anyways the main issue is it's a stupid policy that needs to be changed.
A player could just as easily create my name and maybe he enjoys MTGO and enjoys Trading... Seriously if you look at the casual room you can easily find players with names that have to do with trading or collecting.

It's an extension of the ban on trading in general in game rooms.
The little ditty that sums it up, is as follows:
"Trading is trading, and gaming is gaming, and never the twain shall meet."

I don't think you understand. I'm saying I want to be able to play on any account that I own. I do not think that bots should be allowed in player rooms ever.
The definition of "trading names" is too open to interpretation. Who decides who has a trading name or not?

I understand more perfectly than any other. WotC deliberately stated that any account with any reference to trading or selling in their names are banned from all game rooms. They said this years ago.
WotC decides with 100% impunity. If you disagree with an ORC decision, you obviously can appeal via CS.

It's funny because I just looked in the casual room and saw at least 4 accounts that could just as easily be labeled "trade accounts" but they have no problem playing games without being forced to the back of the bus.

Is this in the FAQ? I never heard about this policy... and if it isn't written and recorded somewhere I don't consider anything official. (for example, I don't consider worth's promise not to reprint FoW in a future MED binding on Wotc because I see nothing like an official statement from the company regarding that matter)
I collect Zendikar Foil Basic lands. Trade me yours! 3. Do not advertise or otherwise approach people for trades outside of the designated trading areas. This includes but is not limited to:
- Using account names that reference trading (TIX4CARDS, PaulsKardHaus, etc.) or
- Using account names referring to any business or commercial venue
- These accounts may only appear in designated trading areas.
This is from the code of conduct. An orc could easily ban a player with the same player name and ebay name if he sold cards on ebay. That would be a very loose interpretation but well within the bounds of the policy.

While I don't think account names that reference trading should be banned from playing, if this is WotC's policy we have to abide by it. The enforcement then should be across the board though, so that's on them. Not meant to be baiting here or anything, but do you not have an account name that doesn't reference trading? Is $10 too outrageous to pay to get an account name that you could play on (if you don't have one already?)
