I play nothing but casual 2hg ext, it's what defined my entire mtgo membership. I've gladly endured the last great broken set, Mirrodin for quite some time now and now RoE is coming out with the new spoilers detailing what? Yeah clones of the big artifact creatures from Mirrodin.
So most of those powerful cards with annihilate cost over 10 to cast. Big deal, as long as there are two or more players with cloudposts these cards will absolutely dominate the 2hg ext scene ruining the fun for most.
I've decided to stop playing after I saw the first spoiler for the butcher card but this just seals the deal. It's so easy to foresee that it's going to get boring real fast. Turn 1 cloudpost, Turn 2, Vesuva + Greaves, and so forth.
The format will be unbalanced and virtually unplayable as long as posts are in ext. Mark my words.

While I agree with you to some extent, I think you will see more people with games that say no cloudposts to eliminate this. I have also already made a blood moon deck, problem is many people quit as soon as they see it.

The question is, how do you define casual?

obviously no posts or big guys...
I like fun, but competitive decks. So I might not play what is optimal but they have normally been tested to have a 2/3 winrate.

I don't see anything wrong with posts. Then again I have a green deck that can put 12 forest into play by the end of turn 4. The problem I see is the Sloppy Pool Rulez inacted awhile back where people don't have to worry about what to do if they don't use all the mana in the pool. You used to have to be clever and siphon it off somewhere and don't forget ManaDrain is the new CS.

Kozilek dies to removal. Emrakul dies to non-targeted removal. Ulamog dies to exile-based removal.

Makes me wonder if Path/Swords or a functional reprint will be forthcoming. Maybe 11 Ed? err, M11?
Thank you, Erik.

extended rotates with Scars of mirrodin, you will endure stupid.dec for less than 6 months, and as others said just put no eldrazi rules in place. GL

Here is the problem. Not every deck runs heavy on removals. In fact, many creation decks rely on their own summoning strenght. The older creatures just can't compete with the new annihilation ability. Will be utterly distusting with cascade + hypergenesis.

I doubt that most casual 2HG could compete with hypergenesis right now anyway. As yet there are no hasty annihilators and the crazy 187 effects require casting.
4. Don't speak dumb, or you'll be struck dumb.
