I've been getting tons of e-mails lately from people trying to sell off their foil ala block foil sets. I think we all knew it would kill the price but man I didn't think it would kill it this badly. We have been dropping the buyprice on the foils faster than a hedge fund manager made money in '07. Anyways I wonder if WOTC will keep doing this with every set and totally killing the collectibility of the foils. The main purpose of foils is collectibility so why on earth would they keep doing this and ruining that aspect of the game for those that like to collect them? Does anyone know if they plan to keep doing this with future sets or if this was a one time thing?

I'm sure it will all depend on how well they sell in paper.
I'm hoping that they don't sell and they can can the idea. I think that the nightmare changeover from ACR to ALA block packs was incredibly bad and just causes resentment in players. (They should allow for a 1 for 1 exchange in the store if there is a next time)
I collect Zendikar Foil Basic lands. Trade me yours!
Things that I want to see changed on MTGO:
1: 64 man drafts added to rotation of Events.
2: Friday night Classic/Better event times for Classic.
3: Visual/Audible Notification of disconnect, deckbuild/afk time expiring and round starts.
4: Prize Payouts as close to draft sets as possible.
5: Rotate Classic draft queues monthly!
6: MOCS level events for Classic/Pauper
7: Power 9!
8: Award Promo Cards for Constructed PEs (esp for Legacy/Classic)
9: Program Split option back in!
10: Set Favorite version in deck editor (i.e. always use x swamp)
11: Better sorting of gold cards in deck editor.
12: Bring leagues Back!

Yes the ALA block boosters move is still totally mind blowing to me for a company that has said they wanted to make MTGO as close to playing in paper as possible. A lot of people play online for practice and while it doesn't make it totally pointless it does at least make it a lot different than paper as far as your picks go.

Maybe WotC is interested in lowering the cost of foils to get more people interested in collecting them? If so, you might see an increase in demand for foils from other sets.

i redeemed 26 foil sets last week and im sure many others who won sets redeemed them too...i would say most of them will make it to the paper market, but considering the foil market on mtgo was already pretty crappy, any influx of foils will just make it worse

I was happy to see Ben Bleiweiss's article today where he said that the Foil packs have been a failure. Hopefully that means it will not happen again.

Personally I wasn't even thinking about trying to make foil sets until the ala block foil drafts. The price on foil mythics is just ridiculous, and you need em to redeem. After drafting a foil uril and foil karrthus though, I think I'll be making and redeeming a foil ARB set in the next couple months. While I didn't win any foil sets (or normal ones either), I still have 17 bigA packs to draft through. I expect a good month before they are gone. Not really worth getting 2.5-3tix each for them on the 2ndary market, rather just draft them.
