Hello everyone,

Happy Holidays and a good time to everyone. MTGOAcademy has a small gift for the community in the form of our first MTGO tool. It's awesome and free! The only requirement is a registration but it only takes a minute and we do not spam you or share your information with anyone.

MtG  Notifier (Version 0.01)

MtG  Notifier is a small but smart PC utility that generates a customizable sound effect when someone sends you a message in game or initiates a trade request. MtG Notifier can also automatically maximize the MTGO client and bring it to the front if desired.

You can find the download on our website under "Tools and Downloads".

Please let us know in the comments or forums how it works for you.

Cheers,

Marin aka Plejades

ok this is pre-emptive but it sounds amazing.  I buy a lot of caards from online stores, and hate trying to pay attention to see if my mtgo icon is flashing on my toolbar, i hope this works
I like fun, but competitive decks.  So I might not play what is optimal but they have normally been tested to have a 2/3 winrate.

Oh, it also works if a draft starts you forgot about. The window gets maximized and you get a signal.
Hopefully that feature will be useful for many. I for my part have several drafts I forgot about and only realized after several minutes....

Wow! Trade alarm is the greatest thing missing in MTGO right now (followed by leagues). I am gonna check it out!

I know it works as an alert if you're passed priority, and if you get challenged too.

I like it!

Thanks. This is awesome dude. If you can allow changing volume will be even better. But it works. Now I can go away from keyboard and not miss trades.

Time for humans to take on the bots! I look forward to attending your 2010 academy lessons!

Thanks for the positive responses so far. I am sure there are a few things that can be added/improved about th tool. We just wanted to make sure it works and bring it out as early as possible.

The easiest way to get in touch with us regarding bugs or feature suggestions is our "Academy Think Tank" forum.

Keep the ideas coming,

Merry Christmas,

Thanks for offering this, Plejades. I have been advocating re-coding this into MTGO since they took it out as it makes loads of difference in trade efficiency for anyone not using a bot and having real life responsibilities to care for. I think it is abysmal that someone non-Wotc had to come along and be the first to offer it. For one thing (not to say that this particular application has anything wrong with it), making users rely on downloads from other users for standard (present in V2) features is a very bad practice. As shown from shady bots with back doors and password stealing code, not everyone is  benevolent with their programming when it comes to MTGO accounts. Just imagine it were possible for a software developer to somehow make it possible to play leagues on MTGO or to fix multiplayer. Knowing hundreds of people would download his software to take advantage of this, what's to keep said developer from becoming a bit ambitious? Yes, obviously it's "at your own risk", but there would be no need if WotC just fixed these (trade alarm) small features we are still lacking. I also hope they are not going to use Plejade's initiative to cross it off their list of things to deliver. If it's even on there at all.
