So I was under the impression that new accounts could not be created with ______ or ..... or whatever and the current ones that exist are grandfathered in. Someone correct if I'm wrong. Anyway, browsing through the classified there was an account with a bunch of underscores and then Zendikar. So what gives? I know the whole alphebetical naming thing has been debated to death, but if some people are granted the ability to create these names while others are not, that is obviously unfair.

I think you can make an account with underscores at the beginning just fine.

Why don't you try to create an account like that first, and then tell us if it's possible.
Guess what? Chicken butt.

Best way for them to fix this pactice would be at this point to randomize every search when you pop on the classfied. Or people with ..... or ___ force a name change. But without randomization then everyone would be AAAAAA etc.

They could create a script that rotates through the alphabet every 24 hours, so each letter gets equal exposure. The .... names would be last of course.

That would help a little, except then the AAAAAAAA would always come before the A. But rather than binning the names into 26 groups like that, you could just have the search return a list that starts x% of the way down the list and wraps around, such that it does a full rotation every hour or something.
That way, everyone gets equal time at the top of the list, and you avoid the difficulty of spotting a specific name that would happen in a random list.

Rather than something 'advanced' like rotation, I'll settle for being able to use my arrow keys to scroll the room, instead of having to use my #&*$* mouse wheel. That would certainly make it easier for people to look further into the room.

The consensus that most of the traders on the classifieds is that they want this practice stopped. Randomize searches for classifieds please, I have two account names, one started with A and one started with Z, and as expected, the A account gets more business than the Z account. This encourages people to make account names like _________ASDASDV.
