Hello, I've built a deck around the card Fable of Wolf and Owl , just to try it out. It works alright in the casual deck room, but my main problem is with the early game: 23x Lands13x Forest 2x Plain 3x Brushland 3x Horizon Canopy 2x Reflecting Pool 12x Creatures4x Cold-Eyed Selkie 4x Augury Adept 4x Wistful Selkie 9x Creature Removal/Neutralization3x Oblivion Ring 3x Temporal Isolation 3x Snakeform Miscellaneous Cards4x Fable of Wolf and Owl - the deck's centrepiece. 4x Manamorphose - free cantrip for a 56 card deck. 3x Favor of the Overbeing - gives my creatures evasion, and works especially well with Cold-Eyed Selkie. 3x Search for Tomorrow - mana acceleration and fixing. 2x Garruk Wildspeaker - always good. As you can see, the deck really gets going only on or about Turn 3, which makes me vulnerable to blitz decks. I was thinking of trying to fit in some early defence, but I'm not sure what would be best, and I don't know what to take out. All of my creatures give me card advatage, so I don't want to drop them if I can help it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe something like Wall of Roots would help. It can play defense and accelerate you to 6 mana faster. I also would cut all spells that do not trigger Fable of Wolf and Owl . You need acceleration in order to get to 6 mana, so I wouldn't think that Manamorphose is necessary. Bounce might be another good way to stall here.

Are you trying to keep it STD legal? Yes please.
Maybe something like Wall of Roots would help. It can play defense and accelerate you to 6 mana faster. Good plan. But I don't own any copies. Are they expensive to get?
I also would cut all spells that do not trigger Fable of Wolf and Owl. The white spells are there because Oblivion Ring and TI can shut down opposing creatures hard. Also, I lack the dual lands necessary to switch completely to GU.
You need acceleration in order to get to 6 mana, so I wouldn't think that Manamorphose is necessary. As I mentioned in the post, it's there solely because it makes my deck 56 cards for free. It allows me to draw into Fable faster.

Took some of your advice Hey_Hermano and took out the Manamorphoses for some Llanowar Elves .The extra energy given to my deck by the added acceleration has really strengthened it in my recent matches. I also swapped out the Search for Tomorrows for Edge of Autumn , which is just as fast in this deck and has the added advantage of being able to draw me cards in the late game. Thanks!
